Great product!
I purchased a Calphalon XL 9 speed blender and it is fantastic. I have been using a different brand for the past 30 years and it still works well, but with a lot less features. I am very happy with the new blender.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this product. It wasn't blending my ice or frozen fruit properly. not powerful enough I guess.. I have to return it:(

Great for making green smoothies
I honestly don't know what to make of the bad reviews, because I think this is a very high quality blender. I use it for making green smoothies, and I find it does a great job. I use kale, spinach, banana, frozen blue berries, coconut water and yogurt. I usually make a double batch for me and my husband, and it still handles it just fine. It is true that I sometimes have to put it through the smoothie cycle twice, and I think this is what puts Vitamix and Blendtec in a different class of blender, but for my purposes it really does not bother me to press the button a second time if that saves me $300. It is also true that the pitcher is pretty heavy (it's made of glass), but that does not bother me either. I have had absolutely no leaking except for one time when I accidentally put the rubber sealer piece in wrong (I put it under the part the has the blades instead of on top of it - don't ask!), and even then it did not leak very much at all. Lastly, mine has not powered on without the blender being securely in place. The most important feature for me was finding a reasonably priced blender that would liquify greens so the smoothie won't be gritty, and this one does that very well.

not worth it
I purchased blender to make smoothies. Found very hard to remove glass jar from blade base and impossible to put on the blender base. Leaked out food. Blender went on even though the jar was not on the base properly. heavy to handle.
