Krups® Solo Steam Espresso Machine
Really great sCoffee machine that's small and cute
I like it only for a much improved coffee that's not even close to espresso.! It lacks the pump/ Psi power required and is more like a great hotel. It's why it's so tiny and light and it's like a latte from McDonald's as my best comparison I'm a espresso machine aficionado going on 40+ years and the drip tray isis too shallow/cheap but it's tough enough. It seems especilly good for really easy/fast Tea and Coffee and amwondering why it doesn't have a coffee tamper built in.

We got this espresso maker and initially loved it. The noises it makes are a little much, but we decided that we could handle that. After only a month of use the steamer stopped working... we are returning it and just paying for a nicer model.

Horrible boiler cap!
I purchased this because I wanted a compact espresso maker. The machine does ok but the screw on cap is awful. The dome shape is hard to turn and has very little traction. If the cap is not on tight enough the machine SCREAMS. If I make the lid really tight I cant easily remove it afterwards. I called KRUPS customer service and told them this is a awful design and the lady registered the complaint which did nothing for me. Very rude. I don't like wasting my money and this is definitely a waste. KRUPS definitely needs to make sure their products not only look nice but are functional and this is not functional!

We bought this to replace a XP1020 that we had for years. I am unsure of why others gave poor reviews. Everything works to perfection.

Great Espresso, no froth
I just bought this today and read the directions several times. I was a barista for a long time and know how to make a latte.
Pros: the espresso was very easy to make and tasted great, also, easy cleanup
Cons: The steam is terrible. It is way to close to the machine not allowing my frothing cup to move, then it dosent get hot enough and there was no froth, I tried 5 times, with different containers and different amounts of milk and the same thing. It also takes a long time to even start steaming.
I wouldnt buy this unless you just want espresso. Going back tomorrow :(

Gave this to my son and his wife who are avid espresso drinkers. Apparently if you read and follow directions (they also rinsed it out with vinegar before using) and get past the first 2 or 3 cups due to it being new - they are thrilled with the machine and we give it 5 stars. I'm sorry there are so many poor reviews as Krups is an excellent company and that along with the price
is why I bought it. I regretted it when I saw the reviews and warned him before it was delivered but they are thrilled with the machine. (his old Krups died finally). I go along with the reviews that mentioned they read the directions and rate it excellent!

Krups lost a fan:don't waste your time on this one
I bought this one to replace an older model of the same make and manufacturer. I loved my earlier version (Krups XP1500), but the coffee side of the dual coffee-espresso maker died and my husband wanted to get a new coffee maker, but I didn't want a large half-functional machine on the counter anymore. The espresso side of the old XP1500 did NOT have the issues this XP100050 model has.
Pros - Makes as decent a cup of brew as I have ever made out of any of the last 7 years using the XP1500.
Cons - My first time using it, I thought it was going to blow up. My dogs ran outside and I got a little nervous. It screamed like a banshee for over a minute as half the reservoir seemed to escape from the lid and the other half dripped into the cup. I tightened the lid as tight as I possibly could, even had trouble loosening it after the machine was off since it was on so tight. Krups should be ashamed of this design purely because of the lid. It will not screw on tight enough to get a good seal. Tried a second time with the machine and the same thing happened. I was positive I was getting the threads of the cap down just so, making sure it wasn't user error so the cap wasn't askew.
Previous models of this device had a different screw cap which worked wonderfully. Previous models also never made this awful screaming noise. I did not try the steam wand on this device, so I cannot comment on the steamer.
Read the reviews online and it seems this problem is typical, not something which will resolve until Krups gets their act together. I am not a person who returns things often, but I took it back to the store after the second use.

This product is a xp100050...not xp1020
XP 1020 is the only espresso that I have tried that works for me...I bought the xp100050, brought it home and attempted to make some cappuccino...it made the espresso very light and the steamer did not work at all...OMG...please get the xp1020 back in stock...the reviews all were negative except one and that one was talking about the xp1020!
