Functional but flimsy
After our drip coffee maker quit working, we switched to the French Press - for a perfect cup of coffee. This model is all plastic - so no chance of breaking glass. Worked great for a couple weeks, but the filter/press disc began to separate which resulted in coffee grounds in the coffee. BB&B accepted the return which we exchanged for a nicer more expensive model.

Easy to use
I have a Keurig but occasionally receive nice roasted beans for gifts and the personal k-cup devices just don't brew a good cup of coffee. I purchased this press to have in a cupboard for times when I get gifted coffee. It was easy to use and made a good strong cup. The carafe holds maybe 2 standard coffee mugs of coffee, 8-cups definitely refers to a demitasse or espresso cup. I've never used a press before but a quick read of the instructions and I was in business. I'd definitely recommend!
