Cuisinart® Supreme Grind™ Automatic Burr Mill
broke after 14 months of daily use
I used this almost daily for 14 months, and then the hopper broke off, leaving a broken piece embedded inside the base. I didn't change the setting often, so there was absolutely no reason for it to break off. Once I found the setting I liked (about 4 dots from the very finest#, I left it there. Grinder was still under warranty, but it took me 6 e-mails and 16 days to persuade Cuisinart to honor its warranty. While it worked, it worked well; in that it ground consistently and didn't get clogged up #like the Capresso does#. I wouldn't rely on the timer to determine amount of beans to grind, though. I always measured in the exact amount I wanted to grind for a pot of coffee and put only that amount into the hopper. The cup into which the ground beans go is too wide to be able to pour into a cone coffee filter without making a mess. My solution was to pour the ground beans through a canning funnel. That way all of the ground beans wound up in the filter cone instead of on my counter. This aspect of the design is why I don't recommend this grinder, as using the funnel is a pain. The plastic cup does have static electricity, and needs to be brushed to get out the last of the ground coffee #same as Capresso and Expressione). I bought mine online, which is why I needed to deal directly with Cuisinart for return and replacement. If you buy at BBB you won't have that problem, as BBB has a policy of complete customer satisfaction for any item purchased at its stores or its online store, even if the warranty has expired.

It died AGAIN
I am very very disappointed. I purchased this Cuisinart burr grinder because Cuisinart has a good reputation for quality products. I guess I was wrong. This is the second one that has died in less than a year. I will be returning this and purchasing another brand because I no longer have confidence in the Cuisinart brand.

This is our second one!
Love this Burr Mill! Our first one finally died after 8 years, so we gladly purchased the exact same one. It's a little loud and at times needs to be taken apart and cleaned out, but I would expect just like everything else, it requires a little maintenance.

Ive purchased several Cuisinart products (grinder, coffee pot, toaster and can opener) and have been very happy with them all, the grinder is no exception. It looks great in the kitchen with stainless, works great with a lot of grind options and time alternatives, holds a significant supply of beans so you don't have to refill too often. I use it everyday and have had it at least 5 years...works fantastic! if it doesn't work, really brush off the sensors and make sure the container on top is screwed on tight enough. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone! A little pricy but worth it.

The "start" switch gave up the ghost after 3 years of daily grind. My brother bought this grinder for me as a gift since he already had one. My brother's grinder also failed - same failure mode! Not only that, he bought the SAME grinder for his daughter. Guess what: SAME failure mode ! ! Fortunately for me, mine lasted longer than their's did,.... But.....
I don't know if the switch has been redeisgned to be made more robust or not but my next grinder will be different.

"Stops Working" Fix
What people don't realize is that sometimes the coffee forms a powdery residue that needs to be cleaned off the censor.
