Espresso machine never worked, coffee pot just stopped working after 9 months of owning this! So disappointed!

Died after 2 years
I have been happy with this unit up until this past week when it just died, after having it for only 2 short years. If you pay $180 for a coffee/espresso maker, it should last a lot longer than a messily 2 years. The unit still turns on, but it will no longer brew coffee or get hot. I am very disappointed and truly feel that this company should give people their money back if their product just stops working after just a couple years. I brewed maybe a 4 cup coffee daily and an occasional 1-2 espressos a month.

Unit just stopped working after 2 yrs
I have had this coffee/espresso combo for well over a year. It faithfully brewed pot after pot of coffee until this past Easter holiday. Brewed a pot of coffee and had to then brew another for my company. Well the unit just stopped working. I have tried every button combination to try and get this to brew, also tried unplugging the unit with the hope of resetting something....but nothing! Will definitely rethink purchasing this brand again.

Horrible craftsmanship for the price
At $180, you would assume that this machine would be made of at least *decent* quality materials - and this is where you'd be wrong. The espresso coffee grounds holder is made of cheap metal, coated with what I assume is chrome - at least, until you put it in the dishwasher (and, to the best of my recollection, there is NO warning to NOT put it in the dishwasher.) Once you've done that, the coating comes off and it's this dull, gunmetal gray. That's not a huge deal in the long run, unless it's the aesthetics of the thing that appeal to you.
What IS a big deal to me is that this is the second DeLonghi combo espresso/drip coffee maker that I've owned - and both of them have had problems. The first one developed a leak in the water reservoir, causing it to leak all over the counter. Replacing the reservoir didn't solve that issue. The carafe also had a horrible habit of dribbling coffee when you were pouring.
Seeing as how I'd had that one for about a year and a half, I decided to get the latest model - the BCO330T. I've had this one for about a year and a half as well, placing it well outside of the warranty period. This morning, 3/5/2014, I made my normal morning espresso. When I went to remove the espresso grounds holder, the mesh screen inside the machine (the piece that, presumably, keeps grounds from getting up INTO the machine) came off as the two plastic pieces holding it in place had broken. Not thrilled in the least. And, to top that off, if you aren't supremely careful, the carafe for THIS model will dribble coffee when you're pouring as well.
I'm less than thrilled with the craftsmanship of DeLonghi at this point. Considering the price that you're paying, you would think that high-stress parts would be made of metal - not plastic. The drip coffee part of the machine still works, and I'm sure I can still use the steam nozzle to warm/foam the cream for my coffee... but I don't think I'll be buying another DeLonghi in the future. I realize that plastic parts are cheaper to manufacture than metal parts but when you sacrifice quality and product stability/strength in order to save a little in the way of manufacturing costs, you end up with an inferior product.

Very disappointing. Quality stinks
I received this coffee maker for Christmas 2012. The first one I received didn't work when I plugged it in and BBB replaced it for me. The second one worked exactly 13 months and stopped working this week. I used it to brew one pot a day and an occasional latte maybe once a month . It isn't being abused or overused. I am very disappointed in this product. My old dual coffee/espresso maker worked for 10+ years.

Looks great . . . what a mess!
The first time I purchased this product was a couple years ago and it still works, but some dripping around the espresso handle and the espresso coffee holder is made so cheaply that once it was accidentally put in the dishwasher and that was the end of it. With 1 washing the inside of the drip chamber turned to a grey gun metal that rubs off black every time you touch it. Why not use stainless steel???
The second purchase was a gift just a couple months ago (I told my friend not to put the handle in the dishwasher). The clock immediately went haywire; the espresso side of the machine only stays on if you hold the button in and the coffee pot side does not turn off unless you unplug it. Also, this second machine leaks terribly . . . taking it back!

Carafe dribbles all over the place
I asked for this as a wedding gift. Since day one the carafe has dribbled and made a counter top mess when pouring coffee. The rest of the machine works fine. But the carafe ruins it. My husband got so tired of it that he bought me an entirely different brand. What a shame to have such a nice design spoiled by the simplest piece of equipment.
