DeLonghi Gelato Maker
This gelato maker has a built-in compressor that brings ingredients to temperatures below freezing, which frozen bowl ice cream makers can not do. This is the only way to make low-fat frozen treats like gelato. The machine also lets you make multiple batches continuously. The mixing paddle effectively mixes ingredients from top to bottom for the perfect consistency, and the hermetic closure transparent lid seals the bowl off from air to keep the correct temperature inside the stainless steel bowl and air from being blended into the gelato. The bowl is removable for serving and cleanup. Paddle, bowl and lid are all dishwasher safe. A recipe book is included with 50 gelato and sorbet recipes. 1.5-pint capacity. terrible product
I bought this product a few days ago, as a pastry chef, I have been looking for a good quality machine to make my own ice cream. The machine arrived and the paddle doesn't even turn. All it does is freeze. Thinking it was just a one in a million defect, I told my boyfriend, turns out his sister has the same machine, and it has the same problem. I'm returning it ASAPand springing for the lello gelato pro, which is what I use at work and know it is a good machine. Well worth the extra $40.

Well worth the cost!!
My family has wanted an ice cream type machine for a long time. We have researched and discussed and kept coming to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the hassle. We finally decided to take a chance on the DeLonghi Gelato Maker and were extremely surprised at how easy it is to make really tasty gelato/sherbert/ice cream/yogurt. It's pretty much a "mix up the ingredients, pour it in the machine, and turn it on". It is also is super easy to clean. The portions are a little exaggerated in the recipe book. Most recipes say 6-8 servings and if you are going strictly by "true serving size".. you could get that. However, most people want a bowl of ice cream... so it really serves three adult size portions (maybe four). The only negative thing is that the mixing paddle is a cheap plastic part. Although it hasn't broke yet, I have ordered a couple of extras in case it does.

Wonderful Gelato Maker!
Fell in love with gelato in Germany! Researched gelato machines online. Bought this DeLonghi Gelato Maker and absolutely love it! Easy to use. A bit on the heavy side, so store in a lower counter for ease.
The vanilla recipe is awesome!

Best Gelato/Icecream Maker out there
I worked for a product testing firm and tested this gelato maker. It passed with flying colors and made some seriously AWESOME gelato. It's the only ice cream maker I've found that has its own compressor, which means you can literally make ice cream on a whim in like 20 mins. Other ice cream makers have a bucket that require you to freeze it for like a day and then you can make the ice cream. This bad boy is so easy, just pour in the ingredients, turn it on, and wait about 20 mins.
