The revolutionary design of this beater blade allows it to thoroughly mix batter, eliminating the need to stop and scrape the bowl manually. The high-quality, enhanced blade includes a flexible rubber wing down the entire length of both sides of the blade that simulates the action of a powerful spatula gently, yet thoroughly scraping the bowl clean. This action can speed up the mixing process by up to 50 percent and eliminates the need to stop the mixer repeatedly to scrape down the beater or the sides of the bowl. This is an essential beater to have. They do break when using heavy dough.

PROBLEM SOLVED??? --- "lovetofarm"'s review
I believe "lovetofarm" has the wrong beater blade for her mixer which is why it isn't working. The beater she reviewed is the KA 5L The letter "L" indicates a bowl LIFT model. She mentioned problems moving the head up & down. That would be a tilt head model needing the KA-TH beater blade, The letters "TH"indicate "TILT HEAD". There are several similar beater blades, confused for a while, I finally figured that out - at least I think I did! I don't own one just yet but will be picking one up in the next few days at BBB.

Does not work in the 5qt bowl!
I bought this beater thinking it would save me some time having to stop and scrape the sides of the bowl. The beater itself is too long and does not allow for the mixer head to be put down or locked in. I will definitely be returning this!

Beater Blade Beats Them All
I do an abundance of baking and have grumbled for several years about the standard mixer blade which came standard with my KitchenAide mixer.
No more grumbling about the difficulty of getting the goodies at the bottom of the bowl mixed into the batter evenly without shutting the mixer down to scrape the bottom and sides. This new Beater Blade does the trick and saves not only time but nerves when I am a tad bit rushed.
