Nostalgia Electrics™ Retro Series™ Mini Hot Air Popcorn Popper
Cute but messy.
When popping even though u have a bowl under it the popcorn goes everywhere. I love popcorn but the popcorn taste like cardboard . If u can't have anything on your popcorn I guess it would work for u.

Dont waste your money
More seeds popped out than popcorn. I had to move the popped corn to another bowl to reload the un-popped seeds. Sometimes more than once. I used quality popcorn and it came out tough to chew. even my dog spit out the chewy bits.

I had a feeling...
This hot air popper is unfortunately a piece of junk. The manufacturer clearly doesn't care about the quality of this product, and therefore, I don't believe BB&B really cares about the junk they're peddling to their customers. As for the performance of this popper, when the corn actually begins popping, it causes unpopped kernels to come out of the machine. First there are 6, then 6 more. You will get very little popped corn and a lot of unpopped corn. The popped corn is spongy. Not good. Do not waste your money on this product. I think it's meant to look pretty and nothing else.

do NOT buy this popcorn maker
I my company made a product that performed as poorly as this popcorn maker, i would never let it leave the factory.
it shoots 1/2 of the popcorn kernels out of the machine without popping. not only is a huge waste, it made a huge mess.
the kernels that did pop were ok. however because of the waste, we had to pop 3 "batches" before we had a full bowl of popcorn.
Shame on BBB for selling this thing! Bought a Presto microwave popcorn popper - works fantastic!

I bought this at BB&B today despite reading so many negative reviews b/c I decided to form my own opinion and see for myself what I thought of the product. I am eating my first bowl of popcorn from my Nostalgia Retro Series Mini Popcorn Maker as I write this review, and I am pleased. I followed the directions which said to allow it to heat up for two minutes before adding the popcorn (you'll have the machine off when adding the popcorn, then you will turn it back on after you have added the popcorn and put the lid back on). In less than a minute I had a heaping bowl of delicious popcorn (the recommended 4tbsp will render about 5 cups of popped popcorn). The manual recommended against using organic popcorn, but since I had already purchased a bag of organic popcorn and opened it, I wasn't going to let that stop me from trying it out. It turned out just fine using the organic popcorn. I had very few un-popped kernels left over, and no flying kernels either. I know some reviews said that the popcorn has a soft/stale taste, but that is b/c it is all natural and not sitting in a bag of processed *insert chemicals here* junk, and once it cools down, you'll have a satisfying popcorn texture. The sound isn't an issue for me either, as my juicer is louder, and being that I only have the popper on maybe a total of four minutes, it is a tolerable noise level. Overall, pleased with the product, I would recommend it, and as long as you follow the directions in the manual, your popcorn (even organic) should turn out just fine. If the product continues to impress, I will comeback and edit my review to five stars.

Worst 20.00 I ever spent!
Bought this as it was the ONLY counter top version available (was told that popcorn poppers were "out of season".. Really?).. And we wanted to have movie night with our grandies...the popcorn flew everywhere and a kernel blew out onto the top of our 2 1/2 yr old granddaughters foot. Won't use again...waste of money...and dangerous!..not like the popcorn poppers I'm used to...will try a different kind and will either order it or shop somewhere where they are "in season". Would have given it zero stars if I could!

Healthier snack in a hurry
I purchased the Nostalgia Electrics Retro Style Model #310 today from Bed Bath & Beyond. When I got home I checked the website and was very disappointed in my purchase after reading all the bad reviews. But instead of returning it to the store I thought I should at least give it a try and I'm glad I did. I followed the instructions and just want to let you know that not one kernel flew out of the popper, it popped all but 8 kernels and it makes a good sized bowl enough for 2 people and it was ready in under a minute. There was a bit of a plastic smell but you get that with any new appliance no matter what it is. The sides of the popper are warm but not so hot it can't be handled. The only negative thing I agree with is that it is a bit loud but it pops so quickly what does it matter.

Save your money
I really, really wanted to like this. I still have my Mirro hot air popper from the 1980s(?) and I was hoping for an updated version. Not even close. I would have returned it had I not thrown out the box. The problem is that the diameter of the inner mechanism (where the kernels go) is not nearly as wide as the old popper by Mirro. Therefore, the kernels do not pick up enough speed to freely travel up the shoot and out into a dish. The popped corn must be pushed up by the corn behind it. The result is that the popped corn spends too much time inside the popcorn maker and it burns. I have never before had burnt popcorn from a hot air popcorn maker until now. ...The "popcorn all over the counter" can be solved by using a straight-sided container, but the burnt popcorn is not tasty.
