OXO Good Grips® Seal and Store Rotary Grater
I have had several different graters but none that came close to the quality and features of this one
It seals the cheese lump to prevent drying out in storage. Excellent product.

This is a really nice grater and does a fine job. I love the seal on the handle, so I can just store it away even when I don't use it all, and never worry about the cheese spoiling!

I am so disappointed with this product. I chose to purchase because of the reputation of the name and my satisfaction with other products of same name. I also based my decision on the fact that being a lefty, I require a product that is lefty friendly. This one isn't. I don't have the strength to get the thing apart and adapt to my left hand. Secondly, using my right hand, the cheese jams in between the grater wheel and the side thus not shredding. Because I can't get it apart it is not easy to wash or store.

What a waste of thin
This item is not as pictured, not what was wanted, and works poorly. I agreed to buy online because the store thought they had an inventory shortage. I should have just gone somewhere else. The grater is not easy to handle and chokes on hard cheeses.

I recommend the horizontal version ONLY
Today is 5-22-2013. I have owned the one pictured as of today, for years, and I love it!!! In case they change the picture I want you to know that OXO came out with a "new and improved" version, which of course, is not. The old version is horizontal, like a T. It's wonderful and I love it. I went to a BB&B store to get another and they didn't have the T one, they had a new one, which was longer, and the grater compartment was vertical rather than horizontal. I thought since it was OXO it would be fine, I love their products normally. However, this new design is simply terrible. Because it is so much longer you lose the torque you had with pressing down with your hand on the cheese to push it thru the grater. I never get a hand cramp with the old one, and that is one of the wonderful things about it. The "improvement" of a sliding compartment is really no help at all, and the easier disassembly, is OK, but all in all, it was a BIG step back, not forward. Buy the horizontal one, not the vertical and you'll be happy. I'm not sure if they are actually selling the one shown or if they're sending people the newer version. I have a feeling some of these bad review might actually be for the newer model.

An Insult to the Quality of Most Oxo Products
I own hundreds of dollars worth of Oxo kitchen tools. I love virtually all of their products...but this rotary grater is useless, poorly designed, and all-around awful.
I have no idea how this design got by the QA/QC department at Oxo.
Cheese frequently jams between the rotary grater and the plastic casing. The amount of force required to operate the device with hard cheese is so great that the grater casing comes apart when exerting sufficient pressure. Speaking of which, I have no idea how anybody with reduced strength or dexterity could use this device.
I know the design looks great on the shelf. When I bought it I was so excited. But it is trash. Bed Bath and Beyond - I have to assume you are one of Oxo's top accounts. You have the leverage to demand a better product to put on your shelves. You should exert that clout and get them to fix this lousy product from an otherwise excellent producer of quality kitchen tools.

Works very well
I love my rotary grater. It does what it's supposed to do and I haven't had any issues with it.

Not worth the money
The only grater in the store was the Oxo grater. I made the purchase, brought it home. My wife had a difficult time getting the top to open. I guess the silicon seal had a good grip. Seemed to get easier to open with use.
The Oxo is a large grater. People with smaller hands may have a harder time using it. A nice feature is that the grater can be configured for either left or right handed people.
This grater comes with a cover which works in conjunction with the seal on the handle so one can supposedly store cheese inside, keeping the cheese fresh. Taking a close look at the seal as it sits inside the unit I can see about 1/32 of an inch gap at the front of the seal and gaps at the corners of the seal towards the rear.
On the graters best day it would not be able to keep any cheese fresh. If you want fresh cheese store it in a baggie or some other airtight container.
To get the grater apart there is a tab that has to be pressed so the unit can come apart. Since you are flexing a piece of plastic it is possible that the tab may eventually break.
Does it grate cheese? Hard cheese is all I have tried but I have to say that it does grate cheese, though handle pressure is higher due to the seal than other graters I have used.
I will be looking for another grater, probably a Zyliss but I will keep an open mind. The Oxo Seal and Store will either find it's way to a garage sale or give it to my son when he gets his own apartment.
