not good for ripple chips
I bought this to make my own ripple chips, but it doesn't slice an even chip no matter what. They are thick at one end and thin at the other. I'm returning this worthless piece of sh... !

Best Ever!
The best Christmas gift I have ever received! I sliced a tomato and onion in 30 seconds flat tonight! I just hosed it off with my sink sprayer and tuned it on it's side to dry. Their is some other fancy blades but I have not used them yet.

Great Contender in the Mandoline Market
First and foremost - purchase the cutsafe glove to use with this product. It is the biggest favor that you could possibly do for yourself.
This was my first mandoline, and I have had a lot of fun using it since opening it up on Christmas morning. My favorite things to make with it are noodless zuchhini lasagna and butternut squash pasta with cream sauce.
The Good Grips Mandoline was a bit tricky to figure out how to use at first. When you open the package up, the flat blade will already be in place for you, so you'll be able to get started right away. However, when it comes time to change the blades, make sure you have a lot of patience! The instructions do a poor job of explaining how to switch the blades, and I was very nervous about breaking the mandoline when I started pulling on the different parts. It took me in total, about 15mins to get the blades that I wanted to use, in place.
Because the blades are stored inside the mandoline, there are a lot of nooks and crannies that vegtable peelings can disappear into. This isn't the quickest of products to clean up. You have to ensure that you completely disassemble the good grips mandoline to wipe off every crevice, otherwise, you'll discovered caked on veggies the next time you go to use it. I would estimate that I spent a solid five to ten mins. disassembling and cleaning the Good Grips Mandoline.
This item is very sharp, and a cut is almost inevitable unless you are using a cut safe glove. I read the other reviews before purchasing this item. The hand rest that the Good Grips provides you to protect your hands is awkward to use, and will cause you to waste a lot of your food when slicing. The glove will allow you to eliminate waste and protect your fingers. However I quickly discovered that you can still cut yourself when cleaning the mandoline, so be carefull!
Overall, I like this product, and I like the price. The only reason why I did not give it five stars is because it is trickly to figure out initially and can be time consuming to clean.
