Beautiful, but wish it was better quality
I bought this in September of '11. It's now March '12. I never leave my reviews until after I've had and used a product for a decent amount of time. Most everything looks "amazing" fresh out of the package. It's the condition that it maintains after 6 months of use that is more useful to potential buyers.
It is lovely, and continues to look 'new' from a distance. We've experience some minor pilling on the under-side of the comforter on my husbands side...but he moves his feet under the covers constantly. So it may not be an issue for others. The bedskirt isn't stitched firmly to the foundation cover, and has a tear in it where my 3 year old has rubbed his foot to climb up into my bed. Again, may not be a problem for all people. The most obvious flaw, is that the lovely gold scrolling embroidery does tend to throw out a thread and unravel. If you pull the thread, you'll remove the entire design section. We lost ½ a gold leaf on the second day of ownership. But I watch closely now. Whenever I'd see that we were losing another threaded design, I grab the scissors, and my clear fingernail polish. I cut down the thread, and then apply a dot of nail polish to 'glue it down' so as to preserve the design from further unraveling. I've had to do this 4 times on the comforter thus far. The embroidery just isn't as perfectly secure as I'd hoped it would be.
Overall, I still LOVE this bedding set. it looks lovely, and I just have to keep a sharp eye on it. Confession: I have yet to launder the comforter and decorative shams (...its probably time!), so I cannot speak to how well it endures a dry-cleaning, or if there is further unraveling or shifting of fibers.
