the machine is amazing, after putting on deodorant and passing by the machine, it powered up to filter the air from the smell t of the deodorant, imagine what it does for smoke and cooking odors.. so happy i bought it.

wonderful air purifier
I purchased the Winix 6300 today, and used the 20% off coupon I get in the mail. I ended up paying $170 with tax. That was a really good price compared to online stores and other retailers. I have the air purifier in my bedroom, and it works very well. I can tell the difference in the air. It seems lighter, and it smells crisper. It has four different fan speeds. I went through all different speeds and found that level 3 is best for me. I can hear it running, but I don't feel it is overly loud at all. I have a Honeywell air purifier and it's lowest setting is comparable to the level 3 on the Winix. I like it because it moves a good amount of air, and the noise doesn't bother me. The lowest setting doesn't seem to move much air, and the plasmawave feature is noticeable. It is kind of a buzzing sound, but from the fan level 2 and up I can't hear it. I think most people would leave it set at 2 because it still circulates the air, but isn't loud at all. It is actually quiet. I do think that the plasmawave feature works. The Honeywell I have doesn't have an ionizer, and the air doesn't seem crisp. Overall I am very happy with it. I have bought and returned 3 air purifiers in the past, but I won't be returning this one. The only problem I had was that it did not come with the 3 extra carbon filters. I plan on calling the number that was included and hopefully they will send me them. I don't really want to return or exchange it over that. I wish they would have included their better filter with this model. Winix has a filter that has a washable antibacterial pre-filter, a slightly better HEPA filter (99.9%), and a washable carbon filter; it also has another anti-bacterial feature. They do make this filter for this model, but it costs about $100-120. The Winix website sells it for 120, but I have seen it elsewhere for about $100. I plan on getting that filter when I need to replace this one. The filters can be expensive but honestly after using it for the day it is worth it. I have 5 pets in my home, and it really makes a huge difference in the air quality. I had looked and researched a lot of different air purifiers. My price range was around $200, and for that much I think this model is the best. It has a high CADR rating compared to other brands, and pretty much all the reviews I read for Winix air purifiers were good. I am very pleased.

Happy purchaser
I honestly don't know whether air filtration claims are mostly hype, but I've had this unit for a couple days now and am very pleased. We don't have pets, smoke, carpets, but some dust and normal allergens. Got it mostly for my wife, who affirms that she is breathing better at night. It's an attractive, easy to use unit. Remote control is handy. Not sure about "plasma wave" technology (whatever), but bottom line is, it can definitely freshen up a room and keep clean air circulating while you are sleeping. And it's very quiet (unless you put the fan on "turbo," which you wouldn't normally do, only perhaps to freshen up before entering a room). I'd say it was a good value. The order from BB&B took a couple days to be processed, but then came very quickly (overnight, if not same day). Even though I have a store a few miles away, online ordering saved me a hassle.
