Calphalon® Unison™ Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Fry Pan
Exactly what I wanted
I've had Calphalon non-stick products for over 15 years and have always been satisfied with their performance. My old 12-inch non-stick fry pan (no lid) finally lost its non-stick properties after nearly 12 years of constant use. I chose the Unison Non-Stick because I like the feel/heft of the pan, the rolled lip which makes it easier to pour, and the lid! Although I have lids to fit all my other Calphalon pans, I always used foil for the 12-inch pan, which was not as effective as a true fitted lid. I am very pleased with my purchase and have been using for over a month now. I wonder why I didn't make this choice much earlier!

Most Frequently Used Pan
I received this at my bridal shower and it is the perfect size for most things. It is a little heavy but very good quality. I enjoy making breakfast and dinner in this pan. Worth every penny.

Would be five, but...
there was a small bubble in the non stick, and after 5 uses it has begun to peel a tiny bit. The warranty will no doubt take care of this, and we plan on replacing it. We love all their cookware, and the warranty is great in case of something like that happening in manufacturing.

I bought this pan as a gift for my husband since he does most of the cooking. The originally purchased pan had a small scratch on the side wall of the cooking surface, so we returned it for another. It too had a small scratch, probably from the lid handle with the way it was packaged. Decided to keep it anyway because we just didn't want to deal with the hassle. I love the cooking surface and it is so easy to clean. The cooking problem is that it doesn't sit evenly on my glass-top stove. For such an expensive pan, I would have thought it to be better balanced. I worry a little about the longevity of the Calphalon surface. There are now many more scratches and discolorations. We only use Calphalon utensils and always hand wash the pan.

Absolute favorite pans
I purchased both the 12" and the 10" non-stick pans and absolutely love them. I find I use them more than any other pans I have and would highly recommend them. Even my husband can use them and food cleans up immediately.

Perfect for Everything!
I love this pan! My husband prefers SS, so that's what we have in a set, but I got a few non-stick pieces to use, and this is my go-to pan for EVERYTHING! It's nice and large, so things don't spill out and you can fit large amounts of food in it and know that it will all get cooked evenly. I especially like it for one-dish skillet recipes. Clean up is quick and easy - food slides right off! It's heavy-weight, and the handle doesn't get hot while you're cooking. The clear glass lid allows you to keep an eye on things, even when they're covered. Highly recommend!

Pros and Cons
This is the best nonstick surface without spending a fortune, making for easy cooking and cleanup. And it has THE MOST comfortable grip handle. But the pan has a slight hot spot in the middle; if it only had a thicker metal base to even out the cooking surface. Plus I wish it was a little deeper - holds more but mainly so the lid can be stored upside down in it without the metal handle threatening to scratch the coating. Another issue with the lid is the bottom lip, great for self basting while allowing just enough steam to escape so the chef can still see thru the glass, but it also makes it impossible to air dry after washing. Knowing these minor flaws, I adjust by stirring more frequently, towel drying the lid and never ever storing the lid upside down. After having it almost 2 years, I am mostly happy with it.
