Great grill
Love it!!!!!!!! Have cooked steaks, burgers, waffles, and panninis on it. Just read the instructions and keep the temperature settings up and you will not have any of the problems I read in earlier posts. It has been used daily since we got it several weeks ago. One of the best purchases I've made. .

Great idea, but not the best
This is my first electric grill and I have used it about once a week since I bought it a year ago. I love the versatility of switching the plates, not to mention being able to put them in the dishwasher. Plus, it's easy to use for smaller meals & such. This unit does heat up fast and did a great job on cooking on the closed grill setting, however I have noticed in the last few months that the top grill closes more at an angle than perpendicular to the bottom plate, so the foods closer to the hinge get direct heat- while the foods in the front are only cooked on the bottom side. This has become an issue.
Also, the metal clip attached to one of the top plates broke off & is now rattling around inside the grill. The plate will still stay on as long as the other clip is in good enough, but I'm sure it will only be a matter of time.
Another negative is that the unit does not hold heat well enough to use it for ANY food while using the open grill option. I couldn't even use it for thin pancakes or eggs- after almost 15 minutes on the grill at high heat, they still weren't done.
Even after all this, I would say that I'd give it 4 stars because the grill has made my cooking life so much easier, but taking the price and the fact that it does have it's inconveniences, I have to take it down a notch. I'd only give it the 4 stars if it were about $40 total price. I know that the price has come down since I bought it a year ago, but it's still too much for what you get.

Keep Your Money
I purchased this Sharper Image grill about a year ago clip broke that holds in one side of top plate after 6 months. The grill sill works but the top plate keeps coming out. I must be very careful when using. and all the control numbers have worn off. Not very well built at all.

Little Grill Does It All!
This is the first tabletop electric grill I have owned. I usually use a large propane grill outside. When I just want something small, or a quick panini sandwich, this grill does the trick.
I have grilled veggies, fish, chicken, turkey burgers, shrimp, and many other foods. I have also made pancakes which were excellent. The wafflemaker makes this item so versatile; you won't need any other tabletop grill or griddle.
It is easy to clean, and stores easily in the pantry or on a shelf.
I highly recommend this product for anyone from a gourmet chef to a college student!
