A Jewel in My Kitchen & the pouring shield fits
Really, for a dedicated baker, there is nothing more handsome on the counter than a KitchenAid Mixer. In the case of the Artisan Design model in Candy Apple Red, it rises to the level of jeweled artwork - sculpture I never tire gazing upon. I know, fanatic, but there you are. I gave my last older milk green one to a friend who wanted it to make sausage. He's happy, and letting it go allowed me to cave in to my lust for a red one and act on it. Re the mixer itself: KitchenAid mixers are simply the best around and have been forever. I doubt anyone would disagree with that. I bought this particular one for the slightly larger motor size,the glass bowl and, of course, the candy apple red color. The clear bowl lets you see what's going on at the bottom and sides and to scrape when necessary. The standard paddle is a little small to mix thoroughly, however, and I followed the advice of another reviewer and bought a fairly inexpensive aftermarket paddle with rubber edge flanges that achieves a more thorough mix. Much better. I wish it came with the bigger 500motor but I'm sure the 350 will be fine for what I do which is limited to mostly cookies and quick breads. They say it's fine for yeast breads, too, though I haven't given it whirl for that yet. It doesn't come with a pouring shield, but, just like with the metal bowls, you do want one. The standard pouring shield does fit the glass bowl. I expect to pass this down to my niece in 30 years. If she's like her aunt though, she'll probably have her own ideas about the color. She'll probably have her own long before that.

Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer
KitchenAid mixers are a slam dunk. I bought this one for my daughter-in-laws birthday. It arrived in good condition and works well. However, it also arrived without the wire whisk attachment. They had to go to their BB&B in San Antonio and they gave her the missing pieces - which was nice considering it was unusable otherwise.

My new toy
I LOVE this!!! It's so pretty, shiny, and perfect! I've only used it once however. Also don't put the whisk in the dishwasher cause that supposedly rusts it, but otherwise this is so cool!

Love It!
I used my new mixer for the first time this weekend to make sticky buns and I absolutely love it. I found the instruction manual easy to understand and some of the recipe tips on the bread making were really helpful. The dough for my sticky buns came out PERFECTLY and they were delicious. And the candy apple red color is stunning on my countertop. My husband has already asked if he is allowed to use it as well. Can't wait to use it again soon for another recipe!
