Brightest non-backlight ever.
Oh, and the temp portion of mine doesn't work either. Read & followed the instructions to a T and it still doesn't work. Also, mine doesn't beep when the alarm goes off (followed the instructions to a T on that one also.
Think I got a dud.

avoid this clock
HORRIBLE! poor design. Every time you need to move the clock, your fingers touch a setting button. The backlight is too bright. Even on the dim setting I have to turn the clock away becaue it will keep you awake. The designers of this product should be ashamed of themselves. It now sits in my closet in a box.

Great Idea, Not a Great Style.
I love the idea of this clock and use the lighted time on the ceiling instead of a nightlight. Beware, if you like it dark, this won't be the clock for you! There are two design flaws. The projected clock tilts back or sideways but does not tilt forward so if the unit is placed far back near the wall, it will not project onto the ceiling unless the unit is FACING the wall. Also, although it looks nice, the light weight and the shape of the unit makes it impossible to push the buttons without the whole thing scooting backwards. If you hold onto it, you are likely to change the radio station or push buttons for sounds inadvertently.

Like it
I have to agree that at first it is quite bright, but I got used to it and now enjoy seeing the display on the ceiling, both time and outside temp without waking anyone.
Alarm feature takes some practice and getting used to but you need to use two hands to shut it off...permanently. I really like the clock and that nifty temperature feature. I have the sensor out on my shed about 50 feet from the house and it works accurately with no problems.
