This is a very hard working machine. For its first run we vacuumed the room first with our older Hoover, then let the Roomba go. We really couldn't believe the amount of cat hair and dirt it picked up. I appeared to do the entire room, but I just had to give it a good test, grabbed some clippings from the paper shredder and sprinkled them around the room. I wanted to see if any were missed when the Roomba dock and was pleasantly surprised when I couldn’t find even one. The Roomba is easy to clean, just follow the included instructions. We have recommended the Roomba to several friends and will continue to do so I am sure.

great product...we have named her Hazel...she is like our maid....we have hardwood floors so she is great....new throw carpets...lots of fibers in the brush....so needs cleaning out to perform....would buy all over again....makes life so easy for working couples!!!!

Works on pet hair and area rugs well
I have owned my roomba 780 for 3.5 months and have used it 3-4 times each week. I chose the 780 model because I have 3 large dogs that are in/out and shed a large amount of hair daily. I also have tile and wooden floors with large area rugs. The roomba 780 travels over the rugs with ease and has not damaged the fringe on the rugs so far as I can see. It does leave some of the fringe "standing" and I flatten it if it bothers me. It picks up the pet hair from the rugs better than my standard vacuum cleaner. Our area is very dusty and cleaning the roomba 780 does get my hands filthy. Each use I need to remove hair and strings from each end of each of the two rolling bars before I "send it home". I sometimes stop it mid cleaning to empty the collection compartment as it is relatively small (about the size of a swiffer). Sometimes I am confused as to why it leaves the area set up by the virtual walls when I have not moved the roomba since turning it on, interrupted the infrared signal, and it is clean, but for the most part, it does stay within the "walls". I can put it in a bedroom and shut the door and trust the floor will be clean when I return. It does return home and dock when it's battery is low. It sometimes gets stuck under a low piece of furniture and turns itself off. I often adjust pieces of furniture slightly when I want to make sure it does a thorough job giving it more space to maneuver. Bottom line, my home looks more tidy and I am keeping up with the removal of pet hair better. It's cleaning and I am off doing other tasks. I don't think the roomba 780 is the only vac I need but I appreciate how effective it is and I highly recommend it.

best vacuum purchase ever made
Bought the Roomba 780 as it was recommended for pets. (Used the coupon to upgrade from 770.)
Really (quietly) collects a mess of hair without frightening the cats, in fact they are intrigued by the spinning brush & follow Naomi around. (I named her Naomi after my former cleaning lady.) Convenient to be doing other tasks while cleaning floors. Seems that she can smell the dirt (has no eyes to see it) and goes right after it & doesn't quit until she's happy. The carpets colors seem brighter after a month of Roomba. Use the lighthouses to clean 1 room at a time which works best for the both of us. Kirby is in time-out since Naomi came as she does a better job going from ceramic tile to Pergo to carpets and throw rugs have never been so clean!!! Love the Yankee Candle fragrance application. Should have purchased it 10 yrs. ago!!!! Need written instruction manual for old people like me - I should see if there is a printable download available. When is the stair sweeping, window & wall washing robot coming to a BB&B near me???
