I was wrong: it sheds
In my original review, I mentioned that there's absolutely no shedding whatsoever. Well, I was wrong: I just hadn't noticed yet. I have a navy blue bedspread with the gray Polartec Softec blanket and tonight I noticed that there's a layer of fuzz from the blanket on the entire inside where my bedspread and the blanket meet. I also noticed it on my flat sheet, but I had to look very carefully because my sheet set is simply a lighter gray.
Due to this discovery, I don't know how many stars I want to give it. My first reaction was that I would come here to write a new 1-star review. However, I only noticed the shedding because I just happened to get a good look in between the bedspread and the blanket; it was pure chance that I saw it. So it's not like I went looking for it. I mean, other than this discovery, I still love the blanket. Not only that, but I assume and I hope that it will shed less and less with each wash. Unfortunately, that means I'll have to wash my bedspread every time I wash my blanket so that I can keep track of the shedding.
So, I guess 4 stars might be the most appropriate. I mean, yeah it's shedding and that bothers me, but I'm hopeful that it will shed less and less as I keep washing it and using it. Not only that, but I otherwise love this blanket. So, it's good (4 stars), but it sheds.
I still recommend this because this isn't enough of a problem for me to return it. I mean, I'm ever hopeful that the shedding will gradually come to a stop. If not, then I'll return this and get something completely different, and you'll also see another review from me at that point (if it ever happens).
So, I apologize for the poor review originally. I realize now that I should have looked for the shedding. I was simply going by the lack of new dust/debris/fuzz on the horizontal surfaces in my room. So, it seems to be contained because it's not getting on everything else (that I know of), but still: I have to sleep in that bed knowing that my blanket is shedding.

It's only 60" wide (not 66"), but I still love it!
I love this blanket! I bought the Twin size for my Sleep Number bed to replace my old Vellux, so it's sandwiched between a flat sheet and a bedspread.
Before I continue, this is actually 60" wide, not 66 (it says so right on the package). Luckily, I don't have a pillowtop or a thick mattress pad because the 60" width only gives me about 3" to tuck in. I thought that this would be a problem and that I'd be returning it, but I tuck my bedspread in too so that it stays where I want it to, and combined with the friction of this blanket, that seems to be good enough. I'm glad because this is a very nice blanket and again, I thought that I would be returning it for sure once I saw that it's only 60" wide. I mean as I said before, this blanket replaced an old Vellux blanket that is 66" wide and I saw a few 60" wide blankets on the market that I would have loved to purchase had they been 66". So the reason I bought the Polartec Softec is that it has two things going for it: very good customer reviews AND the Bed Bath & Beyond website says that it's 66" wide. Oh well. I like it too much to return it just because it's not as wide as I was hoping! Yeah sure, maybe I would have enjoyed some of those other 60" wide blankets I saw more, but I'm not interested in finding out now that I own this one!
So anyway, I washed it before my first use, and it came out perfect (I'm assuming that this is because I followed the washing instructions without any deviation). My only regret is not using a dryer sheet! hahaha Oh well. I put one in afterward anyway just to see if it would help get rid of some of the static and it did a little bit, but of course dryer sheets work better on wet items. So yeah, I recommend using a dryer sheet unless you live in a humid climate (or unless it's a humid time of year for you).
Anyway, this blanket is very soft! It's not too thick or heavy at all and it's not too thin, it's very easy to wash, and here's my favorite part: there's no shedding whatsoever! I mean, I was originally just going to get a new Vellux blanket so that I didn't have to figure out what I would want in a blanket because I've never used any other kind of a blanket. However, I remembered that when my Vellux blanket was new, it shed quite a bit even after a few washes! I remember finding those little "hairs" all over everything in my room and that made me feel very uncomfortable about sleeping in my bed. I hated that blanket when it was new because of that! So of course, I was worried about shedding, but to my pleasant surprise, it didn't shed at all! I absolutely love it!
Speaking of my old Vellux blanket, I also remember that thing being a little bit stiff as well when it was new. This is definitely NOT the case with the Polartec Softec: it’s wonderfully floppy and flimsy (in a good way), just like a very nice sheet or something. I love it!
I guess if I had to complain about one thing, then it would be the friction. The Vellux was kind of slippery in between my flat sheet and bedspread, but the Polartec Softec has some noticeable friction, although it's not major. This was only a problem when I was putting my new bedding on my bed the first time. I like to get everything perfectly centered as much as possible in order to have as equal an amount as possible on both sides to tuck in. When I was centering the Polartec Softec blanket like I've always done with my Vellux by pulling on one side, it took my flat sheet with it! So, I had to make a small change to the way I center my blanket. It's not a big deal to me, but I feel that it's worth mentioning.
All of the positive comments in all of other customer reviews say everything else that I want to say, so I'll just finish up here by saying this: I'm VERY glad that I bought this blanket!

Like sleeping on a rainbow
This blanket is awesome!! So comfortable!! It is a perfect mix or warm, but not blazing hot. And it is as soft as a chinchilla (if you have never felt one, you are doing yourself a disservice and should probably stop at your local PetCo/Smart and pet one). Didn't pill or shed at all after two washings!! The gray is such a pretty color. Matches our room perfectly. Cannot recommend this blanket enough.
