What Did I Do Without It?
I've had an okay set of knives for the past forty years, and have been happy with them. I guess ignorance is bliss. I ordered this knife because it was offered at a good price, and I'd never used a Santoku before. Wow! Now it's my favorite knife. Well-balanced, extremely sharp, and the design makes it very user friendly. In fact, this purchase has inspired me to order a whole set of Contemporary knives. For those of us on a budget, these are extremely good quality. I will purchase more as time goes on, as gifts.

For the chef, home cook and even a college student
Let me start by saying a great knife! I've been cooking in the kitchen since i was 14 and when i got an apartment and moved out for college my mom bought me this knife along with a few other kitchen goodies.
A fan of the kitchen and cutlery as well, for the price as well as effectiveness this knife is pretty hard to beat. Its a forged knife. A forged knife is usually better than a stamped knife(most lower end knives, "stamped" from a single sheet of metal).
Any knife should stay relatively sharp as long as you take GOOD care of it, so if you heard of a rusted knife it was either defective somehow or it was put in the dishwasher. Proper Knife care means honing it before use, washing it after use, drying it immediately, and occasionally honing it again after drying(wiping the blade afterwards of course).
I definitely recommend this one or the the 7" version, as i purchased that one for my dad and he was very happy with it

Great
This Knife and whole set for that matter are great. There are a lot or reviews of rust, if you hand wash and not let it touch any cheaper metal (silverware ect) it won't rust. I have had this set for months and don't have a single rust spot. If you happen to get a small rust mark, we got one from it toughing a fork, it comes right off with a bit of bar keepers friend. Would recommend and actually bought another set for my sister.
