Metrokane V-Gauge Wine Preserver
With the V-Gauge Wine Preserver, pump until the needle reaches the red zone on the gauge. You'll know you reached the necessary vacuum, and when you reach for the wine bottle again and the needle is still in the red zone, you'll know your wine has been preserved properly. V-Gauge comes with a stainless vacuum pump.

Ok at first, lousy after a few months
I am not sure how long this thing is supposed to last, but I got this for Christmas 2011. About 4 months later, it stopped vacuuming. I've tried water, turning the stopper, turning the gauge, but nothing results like it used to when I first got it.
I hope I can still return it, although it has been 8 months. I've learned that I should just fork over a bunch of money on a really good product rather than settling for a mediocre product.

Good product
Works as well or better than Argon. And needs no refrigerant for next day drinking.

V-Guage Metrokane Wine Preserver
I got a great seal on my wine bottles by using a tip from another website review - just moisten the plug with water before inserting into the wine bottle. The vacuum comes up right away and keeps the vacuum steady for three days or more - you should have drunk the wine by then!
