Better than the KitchenAid handmixer, within reaso
I initially purchased the KitchenAid 9 speed handmixer for gingerbread dough, but the wires got bent quickly and couldn't handle the heavy dough. I exchanged for the Cuisinart 7 speed. Blew the KitchenAid away. It handled 5 batches of heavy, thick gingerbread dough, no problem. Love the storage case-- keeps everything tidy in cabinets and much more visually appealing than an old battered cardboard box! It is very powerful, but if you want more gentle mixing then why not just mix by hand? In retrospect, a standmixer would've been the best for 5 gingerbread houses, but this handmixer worked fantastically in a pinch. Great for cookie dough, brownie dough, and other lighter doughs. Used it to make royal icing as well. I plan on using it for future baking projects. I think it does what a handmixer should do, with a little more muscle to it.

Okay but not great
I was very excited to receive this mixer as a wedding gift however I was disappointed with it's quality and performance. I bake quite a bit and expected this mixer to last a while since I had heard great recommendations about it. However, I had the mixer for less than a year and the wire mixers bent more and more each time when used. The speed of the mixer was too high at the lowest setting as well. This might be an okay mixer to use if you are used to a higher setting mixer and aren't planning on baking often.

Sadly...I just don't love it
I received this as a bridal shower gift. I was excited as Cuisinart is a great name. However, it is TOO powerful! I know that sounds ridiculous but it really is. There are several settings but the 1st one is too fast and sends ingredients flying everywhere. I can't imagine using it on a faster setting. Not to mention, the speed combined with the weight of the mixer make it really hard to use. My arm is exhausted by the time I am done mixing something! I feel like if you need that much power to mix something, you probably shouldn't be using a hand mixer. I am going to bring it back to BB&B and hopefully they will give me store credit.
