big, loud, not impressed
The positives of this "blender" quite possibly didn't have a chance to expose themselves. With the unit being obnoxiously loud, too tall to fit under the kitchen cabinets on the counter and difficult to control- it took me longer to wash the lead off the exterior of the unit than it did for me to decide this unit needed to go back to the store.
While this unit might easily pulverize the porcelain bowl you accidentally drop in w/ the fresh organic berries for your smoothie, it's difficult to operate and requires earplugs to operate. This thing is *loud*!! PULSE- a pulse button is *supposed* to spin the blade for as long as you're pressing the PULSE button. On *this* unit, momentarily tapping the PULSE button sends a signal to the motor to run the blade for a whole second and then turn off. That's not "pulse", that's "1-second-burst mode" and that's limited control. The OFF button on this unit required brute force and tactical finger placement to actually shut the motor off. Turning off unit required your entire hand or both for proper leverage. The timer simply *did not work*. The instructions advises the timer setting automatically turns off motor after set time- it doesn't. We tried several time settings and mode combinations- *did not work*. The lid- multiple issues with the lid. Again- brute strength needed to seal lid and latch rubber "hooks". Removing lid- mess can't be avoided because of the force you need to remove lid. The removable plastic center piece in lid- terrible design for cleaning and drying. Additionally- if the center piece rotates for any reason- and it rotates very easily, the sharp edges get caught on the rubber and you nearly draw blood from your fingers trying to turn that center piece back the other direction to remove for cleaning. Speaking of cleaning- if you're interested in keeping your +$500 "blender" clean, looking nice and water-spot-free... forget it w/ this unit. The handle is one long skinny hollow tube that is a beautiful safe-haven for ugly water spots. The lid and center piece has sharp and skinny crevaces that thwart your cleaning efforts.
A kitchen electric of this expense is required... *required* to be functionally superior; meaning, it should outperform other models, be effortless to clean (and dry), be intuitive (easy to operate) and be asthetically pleasing. IMO, this unit is not made for the kitchen and you will not be at all happy with this unit as you would be w/ a different unit. I would give this unit a 1-star rating, but I'll presume the ability to shred anything and everything is flawless- so I'll add a star.

5-star blender!
So happy with this blender. Powerful, Functional, Long Warranty (10years), Not ridiculously loud, Does everything I need it to do. Looks great next to my Omega VRT350 Juicer. I'm all for Omega's stuff. Customer service is excellent. I really can't say enough good things about this company. It's great.

Omega = Awesome (in red!)
I've turned "healthy" ... at least 1x a day! I actually started by buying an Omega Juicer that I love (this one!) http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17222724 I bought a few cookbooks and a good blender seemed to be one of my missing ingredients. The blender I had just spun in place. Annoying! After a ton of research, I decided to go with Omega ... again. 3 Horsepower motor. That does the job on everything. And 10 year warranty ... thank heavens! Good to know that Omega stands behind their product. So tired of the 1, 3, 5 year warranties. Thanks Omega for great products (& for the 18lbs I've lost)!!! I'll be posting this same review on the other BL6 Omega blenders b/c they are all the same, just different colors. I, personally, liked the red. Made it more fun!
