Coffee Pot
Like that it grinds the beans fresh. Still learning the right strength for different coffees.
Water level does not work right, never shows the correct amount in tank, but I fill up using float.
A bit noisy
Keeps coffee hot for hours without reheating all the time
Like the concept ,like being able to store beans in machine and water reservoir.
Overall OK, ,some drawbacks, not quite what I expected from a product in this price range, but better than what I was able to find in other stores.

Happy with this machine
I've had this coffee maker for 6 months now and I'm very happy with its performance and quality of coffee it produces. I've had other combo grinder coffee makers and this is by far the best I've owned.
I have been grinding my own coffee for 15 years so I new how I liked my coffee brewed already .
If I pre-warm the carafe the coffee stays hot for three hours which is fine since coffee is suppose to be drunk with in 90 minutes.
To make Cafe quality coffee you will need to use more beans so this doesn't bother me much. I use to drive for 15 minutes for a cup of coffee of this quality.
I'm happy with all of the features and use them all.
If coffee is more than just a wake me up, then this coffee maker is for you.

4 Months, 2 550's & 2 600's
I'm reviewing both the 550 and the 600, since I've owned 2 of each in the last 4 months...
Love the coffee the 550xl made. It did seem to use quite a bit of beans, but I can't complain about the coffee it brewed.
I can complain, however, about having to return this unit 3 times in 4 months, I am not happy. I am on my 4th Youbrew. The first two were 550xl's, then I traded up to the 600, thinking the Thermal might have less heating and electronics to fail. When I brought the 600 home (since the 2nd 550 failed Mother's Day Morning), it failed on its maiden voyage. It brewed 2 cups out of a 10 cup water selection, then stopped. I took it back to the store for another 600 and the people behind the counter thought I was crazy for sticking with the product.
All 4 of these units were purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond, and they told me that they get alot of returns on this product, but usually after about the 3rd return, they don't see the people returning for replacements. Her logic was, "It probably just takes 2 or 3 returns to get a good one." Or, customers are probably moving on to another brand. (Dare I say it... Technivorm anyone?) Honestly, we were at Williams & Sonoma, looking at the Technivorm Moccamaster, ready to get our money back on the Breville, but I thought we'd give the 600 a try.
Once I got a working unit, it is making coffee the way I want.
It is even more embarrasing to me since I had been recommending this product to all my friends during the 1st month of ownership. One of my friends at work took me up on the purchase, and as soon as he brings his unit home, it was missing the brew basket. Now, everyone is teasing me about wasting my money on this thing, taking polls on how long this one will last. So, what I wonder, can be going on at Breville?
Time will tell on this latest one. I do believe that there may be some serious manufacturing issues on the YouBrews. It is hard to believe it could have such a high failure rate, or I've got the worst luck in history.
And, to those at Breville, I do appologize for having to write this poor review, but when we pay nearly $300 for a high-end unit, we expect quality, not hassle. If you know you have high failure rates, perhaps its time for a recall. Suck it up, do what is right for your customers.
Very happy with BB&B for their return policy. If it weren't for their service and ease of replacement, I would not have stuck with the YouBrew for as long as I have.

the best coffee I've ever made
I have been looking for a burr grinder, thermal maker for about a year to replace my blade grinding Cuisinart which I have had for about 4-5 years. We are used to keeping a grind and brew clean, so these comments about cleaning are no issue. In fact, this one is easier to clean than the Cuisinart was with all it's parts. The comments about using too many beans were a concern, but I decided that if I couldn't get it to work out for us, I would just return it. We like bold full bodied coffee but after testing several mornings in a row, lowering the strength level each time, I ended up on the 1 bar level with very bold delicious coffee and I'm not using any more beans that I did with the Cuisinart. This coffee is super hot, full of flavor, and stays hot for the morning. The machine is gorgeous and very hefty and well made. I've never had a super hot cup from any other brewer, but the Breville delivers without preheating the carafe or cup. I love the versatility with Travel cup options that work with my tall 20 oz. cup. I have owned it for two months with great delight! One more thing; it isn't as loud as my old brew and grind either.
