Sounds crazy but it works
I have chronic neck and back issues. I had seen the Bed of Nails in Scandinavia a few years ago, then when I saw it at Bed Bath and Beyond, I figured it was worth a shot. I have used it fairly regularly for a couple of weeks for 10-20 minutes at bedtime. The next day my back and neck seem much more relaxed. A couple days I have even been nearly pain free - a previously very rare occurrence! Although it's not a miracle cure, it costs less than a chiropractor appointment or a massage, and seems more effective pain management (and healthier) than pain releavers. I'm recommending it to friends with neck or back issues!

Bed of Nails
It is indeed quite comfortable and relaxing but I am able to lay on the mat for short periods, since I have not had it long. I like it better than the "Pillow", which is uncomfortable. I wrap a silk scarf over it before I lay on it, then it is much better. The quality of the Bed of Nails Mat is excellent and it is also attractive. Great color and size.

Bed of Nails is awesome!
Purchased Bed of Nails & the pillow on the Bed Bath & Beyond website a few weeks ago for my 65 year old mother. I honestly didn't think she'd use them, but she's had chronic leg cramps every single night for the past few years & we've tried just about everything you can think of. I had them delivered to my house, so I opened the box upon arrival & thought "I'll give this a try". I liked it immediately. My SIL was visiting, so she hopped on the Bed of Nails & instantly fell inlove (she actually went online & bought one that day based on using it only about 30 seconds at my house. She's a nurse & said it gives her relaxation after the end of long & stressful shifts). As for my Mom, she really likes the bed & has been using it every day for the past few weeks. Her leg cramps have lessened significantly. Some nights, she has no cramps at all! Some nights, she has only 1 or 2, but that's better than the 5-7 that used to keep her up through the night. I don't have anything going on that I feel a need to purchase this for myself, but my Mom said it makes her feel calm & relaxed & it seems to be helping w/her cramps.
