Perfect for two
I bought this fondue set for a stay at home Valentines dinner, which was the best idea I've ever had! Setting up the stand was a breeze, and if you tighten the screw enough it doesn't wobble like other reviews say. Plus the ceramic condiment dishes that come with it are perfect for sauces, and the lazy susan spins smoothly.
We were able to cook meat and veggies using broth. The pot was big enough for the two of us, but it would take a long time if you have more people eating. The 6 prongs fit well and it only took 1-2 minutes to cook a piece of steak.
The only issue I had with this set was the misleading heating apparatus. Neither the instructions or the box stated what you were supposed to use to heat the pot. And BB&B does NOT sell anything you can use. We wound up going to Ace Hardware and bought a few 3 inch tall gel fuel canisters (came in a pack of 3) called Magic Flame. We ditched the candle holder that came with the set and just placed one canister under the pot. All we had to do was open the can and light the gel. It put off a constant heat that was perfect for the pot. It kept the broth hot for about an hour. The set of 3 was only $6.
I also cooked the broth on the stove before I put it in the pot, just so I didn't waste the gel on heating up the broth. Also, I put about 3 1/2 cups into the pot, but it could have handled a little bit more. And if you decide to use a broth, cook extra because it evaporates! We just added more every 20 minutes.
This set was perfect for my boyfriend and I. And it was only $20 to boot! I gave it 5 stars even with the misleading heating instructions because it only took a little common sense to figure it out. I wish they would let us know what's supposed to go in that heating apparatus. It's probably a tea light because that's all that could fit in it.
But still, it was perfect. I couldn't be happier!
