Radical Assembly Required
When you attempt to assemble this item, you will need a drill and a 3/8 inch (or 1cm) drill bit. The screw assembly on the upper half of this coat rack has screws/hooks which do not fit into the pre-drilled holes. I kindly requested the wife to leave the room when I attempted to enlarge the holes myself with my trusty drill. There was swearing involved and a black magic marker to hide some of the scarring of the lacquer finish. By the third hole, I was an expert craftsman in this maneuver; one has to start from the inside of the assembly and not drill too far into the hole, and use a small circular sweeping motion with the drill since the 3/8 inch bit is slightly too small for the screw/hook. I instructed my wife not to look too closely at the areas of repair. This coat rack looks nice, but there is obviously little quality control of our brothers in India who make this product. Too bad, because it looks really nice. Letting a product go into the market like this, with obvious incongruous parts, is insane. Why didn't I return it? I'm a guy, and I like to fix things and crab about it later.
