The size of the bowls is too large I was replacing cereal bowls from my 15 year old set. These new cereal bowls are much bigger than the ones in my old set. These seem better suited to a large salad or entree size soup or pasta. I returned them and have ordered "soup" bowls which I hope will be 5.5" - 6" instead of 7". I love my Mikasa and it has worn well over the years. Unfortunately the cereal bowls didn't stand up to my kids! February 15, 2013
Lovely...but not quite what I expected These are great bowls. They are beautiful...but they are not quite what I expected. They are labeled "cereal bowls" so I expected them to be a little smaller. Yes, the dimensions were published online, but they still seem large for the purpose. I already had enough soup bowls that we were using for cereal. I love these bowls, I love the shape, I am keeping them...but I will probably buy some smaller bowls to get our cereal portions more realisitic. February 11, 2013
Fruit bowls are nice size for cereal In response to the review that the bowls are too large, the reviewer should measure the bowl she has. I use the 5 3/8" fruit cup that came in my set for my cereal and they are a nice size. Mikasa also makes a 7" cereal bowl, a 6" bowl and a 4 1/2" dipping bowl. Choose the right size for your needs. I find that this set of stoneware chips easily and the bowls can show long hairline cracks. They are pretty, though. December 9, 2012
Cereal bowls failed to meet my expectation I love my set of Italian Countryside but these bowls are much too large. A standard size serving of cereal is dwarfed by the bowl's size. Due to the inconvenience I probably will not return the set of dishes but I doubt I will be using them very much--definitely not for cereal. In addition the dishes do not stack well. January 23, 2012
