Poorly Made!
This thing is made like a cheap junior high wood shop project. It's so terrible, the wood is not sanded down or smoothed... I don't want wood shreds getting into my plantains!!! I returned this along with the plantain slicer. I didn't know this before I bought them, but it turns out that BOTH products are manufactured by a company called IMUSA and I will never purchase anything they make again! I ended up buying the Progressive mandolin, which sliced my plantains perfectly.

Could have made this myself!
Basically, this is a cheap junior high wood shop project. It's so terribly made, I could have done a better job myself. The wood is not even sanded down or smoothed. I'm afraid wood splinters will get into my plantains and I'll end up ingesting them! I'm definitely going to try and return this. I was also extremely disappointed with the plantain press (tostonera). I didn't know this before I bought them, but they are both manufactured by a company called IMUSA and I will never purchase anything they make again!
