A bit like sandpaper
Hilarious! I thought I'd be the only one who had a sleepless night with these sheets, but it appears I am not alone. Like another review, these sheets feel really soft on the sample at the store. I bought a flat fitted sheet to replace the beautiful 1000 TC Egyptian cotton one I'd bought over from Australia and had had for years, but that my husband, with is toenail, had ripped a hole in. But that's another story. Also, I've been caught out with sheets before here in the US (Calvin Klein) where they feel soft, but after washing turn into cheap and nasty,
So, after not being able to find a solitary salesperson (apart from three 16 year olds at reception) at the Sugarhouse, Salt Lake City store, I made the executive decision to buy this brand of sheet. I washed and dried it when I got home, put it on the bed, and woke up at midnight feeling like I was sleeping on a sheet of sandpaper! After tossing and turning for 2 hours and trying to keep very "still" so I didn't get "sheet rash", I eventually I had to sleep on top of my top sheet so that I could at least get back to sleep.
I was so frustrated that I almost got up at 1.30am to write this review!
If you want soft sheets, DON'T buy this brand. If anyone can recommend good soft sheets, please let me know.

Love these sheets
I purchased a set of these in california king when I purchased a 3" memory foam topper for my pillow top bed. These fit wonderfully, don't come loose and wrinkle up. They are very solid sheets and I'm ordering my second set today!

Don't waste your time or money
The store display feels deceptively soft. Once washed, these sheets have a coarse feel and are very heavy. They are no doubt 778 thread count, but are not woven from a fine diameter yarn, which makes them heavy. Don't be fooled into thinking high TC sheets have to be heavy. If a fine yarn is used, a high TC will yield a denser sheet, not a heavier one. After one sleepless night with these sheets, I returned them and ordered a set of Sferra sheets from Neiman-Marcus. I tried to save money with these 778 sheets, but as they say, you get what you pay for.

Way too rough
Before putting on my bed I washed three times to soften them up. I may sound crazy but they were soooo rough that I woke up at 2am and put my old fitted sheet over the new just to get a good nights sleep. But I didn't give up. I washed them 20X (seriously) before trying again. Still very rough and I good see they were starting to pill. I brought them back without the original package and they took it back with no questions asked. I traded for the Wamsutta Dream Zone. Perfect! Buy the Dream Zone if you like the feel of a smooth soft sheet.
