Simplehuman indeed!
I don't know about other people, but kitchen trash cans are not something I sit around thinking about. In fact, I rarely consider them at all until such time that I have to take out the trash (too often) or I absolutely need to replace the old one (which is always sooner than expected).
(Guess I really DO think about trash cans a lot.)
So when the need arises, I usually go to my nearest big name "everything" store and get whatever's available. My experience with kitchen trash cans is (1) they're never quite big enough and (2) the lid will become cracked or inoperable within a few days. Then I'm stuck with an eyesore that's always threatening to overflow with trash.
I wasn't looking for a trash container, but when I saw the 60 liter with the swivel top, I had to have it. These Simplehumans are absolutely the sturdiest, most well constructed trash cans I've seen in a store. Quite unlike the flimsy things you'd normally find. And though I never dreamed of spending what I did for a kitchen trash can, it's worth every penny I spent.
I was so impressed, in fact, that I went back to BB&B the following week and purchased a SECOND can for my recycle trash.
Who'd have guessed you'd find quality construction in a kitchen trash can?

Love it. Love it. Love it.
This is the best trash can EVER. My old standard can held about a day of trash -- this one holds 3 days EASY. Seriously, I have actually counted the days between having to take out the trash because I so despise the chore. It's a 16 gallon can -- but a 13 gallon bag still fits. I use the Force Flex bags because they stretch great and easily hold the enormous amount of trash this can holds. Oh, and the flip lid. FABULOUS. You just swing it up, pop out the swinger and pop it in the sink. So wonderful. I got this for Christmas and it will go down as the best present ever.
