Great design, good product
We have had one up and running for 24 x 7 for over 8 weeks. It is quiet and delivering the promised humidity. Since we live in a high rise, having a good reliable humidifier is critical during the winter. We also like its pleasant, non-boxy design.
On the downside, you cannot fill it up from the top. You need to take the container off the base and unscrew the fill valve from the bottom. It is somewhat tedious but you can get good at it quickly. I would recommend reading the manual on how to set the humidity dial a.k.a reading the smoke signal. Otherwise you may be putting too much humidity out. Lastly since there are number of reports on poor quality, it is important to purchase it from a store like Bed, Bath and Beyond which stands behind the product.
All in all I would highly recommend it. Would purchase $10 water filter from the get go with it.

Recent Edition=Poor Quality
I am disappointed about the poor quality of the current “Drop Shape” cool mist humidifier. I acquired one a little over 1 year ago and it is EXACTLY what it’s designed to do (as stated in your advertisement) i.e. whisper quiet and provides all the humidity needed to have a comfortable house and home. I love it in every way.
Here lies my disappointment; I recently wanted to acquire one for my son’s bedroom however had to return it twice due to the poor quality of the build
A few things are greatly lacking:
- The motor is no longer “whisper quiet” (returned both of them mainly for this reason);
- The quantity of humidity that it provides is much less than the “old” one I already have i.e. if the “new” one is at maximum capacity on the dial, it’s the equivalent of the minimum setting on the “old” one (and I’m not even exaggerating here as we can clearly see the quantity of mist coming out of the nozzle). Therefore, the “new” one does not provide enough humidity to suite our household needs;
- Furthermore, it’s obvious just by looking at it, that the materials used to build the recent humidifier is of much less quality, mostly the round component that generates the ultrasonic humidity.
What’s aggravating is that the “old” one is perfect in every way and we can’t rely on a large company like Crane to provide us with consistent quality products like this one.

Excellent for our first humidifier
We have used it for about a week now and absolutely love it. Recommended setting is medium. We have left it at this setting and have had no problems with leaking/wetness. Cleaning weekly is a hassle, but better to be clean than germ filled. Overall we love it and would buy it again.

I'd Buy It Again
Overall, I'm very pleased with the humidifier. It is simple and effective. The only downside for my husband and I is the green light in the front. It made the basin glow too brightly for our taste. A little duct tape dimmed it down enough.
