Disappointed!
We received this as a wedding registry gift in August 2012. It was working great. Metal cord from device to reader was convenient for keeping tabs on anything in the oven without having to open the door and lose heat. Worked great for grilling. We've had it for 8 months of use and all of a sudden, it reads 205F+ when it turns on without even being used and it won't read an accurate temp on anything. Replaced the batteries and still had the same issue. It's now in the garbage. WHAT A WASTE!

disappointing
I had high hopes for this product. I had gone through two Oneida digital thermometers before I bought this one. It lasted a little bit longer than the Oneida ones but died after about 3 months of heavy use. I've now upgraded to the Rosle digital thermometer.

Great Purchase
Consumer Reports recommended this meat thermometer. My fork thermometer had run its course and I thought it took too long to use - open oven, take out meat, insert, etc. The Polder is inexpensive compared to other digital thermometers and worked brilliantly on my first use. It is also very interesting to see how the temperature rises which allows you to control the cooking time by raising or lowering the oven temperature. Very pleased.

I give up
This thermometer is the most frustrating product I have ever purchased. Instructions were followed by two intelligent adults and even after phone call to Polder customer service and we still could not use this thermometer.
