Defective?
I just bought this to replace an old bamboo one I had and the top section doesn't open at 90 degrees...??? I think it must be defective so I'm going to take it back. (The utensil holder wouldn't fit on it, so that's a sign.). Hopefully they will let me unwrap the new one because it's a trek for me to go to the store.

Needs Protective Coating
Attractive on the countertop and like 2-tier capacity. Huge problem though as this is the only rack I like - on the average I have to purchase 4 racks a year and 8 utensil holders re: black mold that won't wash off. Can't some type of protective coating be applied?

Excellent Buy
I love this bamboo dish rack for its functionality and for its aesthetic beauty. It doesn't stain like stainless steel does and it dries quickly. One of my concerns was that it would warp from the moisture, but it hasn't and doesn't look like it will because the water just rolls right off. I have a microfiber dish rack mat underneath it. The fact that it doesn't have finite dimensions allows me to place more dishes and pots than a conventional dish rack. I also bought the utensil rack that fits on it very nicely. I thought it was a bit expensive compared to conventional dish racks, but, for me it was worth it.
