This one's a keeper!
After our Black and Decker programmable coffee maker died,(that we loved and it lasted 9 years), we researched several, looking for an inexpensive, yet good quality maker. We purchased 3 different ones before getting this Krups model. The first, was a Mr. Coffee, that the paper filter kept falling in causing grounds to get stuck in the stopper for sneak a cup, causing coffee to pour all over the counter, couldn't trust it. Second maker, Cuisinart from Costco, couldn't get the lid off or on the carafe, was way too difficult, so it went back, before even trying to make a pot of coffee. Third, Black and Decker, we thought it would be the same as our original, wrong. The filter shape changed from cone to round, and the filter basket wouldn't stay down in place, so the coffee would back up in filter basket, so I couldn't trust it, plus too tall to open in front of the cabinet, then couldn't open the cabinet, to get the coffee out.
So, now for this Krups, so far we love it. We have used it for 6 weeks, we like the way it is made, the front load swing out filter basket, the water filter, filling the water reservoir is easier than some of the ones we had, and the cone shaped filter basket, plus I used my old permanent one from my B and D one. I liked the programmable ability to turn the beeping on or off, it brews quite fast, and pretty quietly. The carafe fits snugly, yet easy to remove, the flip up lid is very easy to operate.
I only have a few minor complaints, as mentioned by other reviewers, instructions for programming is a little difficult, but I figured it out on my second try. The carafe is a little thinner than most and doesn't have the metal band around for strength. Then on a personal note, I prefer a white maker, so I can see how much coffee is in the pot at a glance and the clock doesn't stay lit all the time, only while it's on. But I think I might like that, now that I am used to it.
So, over all it's great.

Do not buy
I bought this machine because I have purchased Krups products in the past and have had no issues with them. I purchased this machine so I can have a stronger cup of coffee in the morning, as a Keurig brewer does not have make the "strength" of coffee I need to get going. I have had this machine for approximately 3 months, and twice it has turned itself on! Glad I was at home when that happened or a fire could have started. I do not recommend this machine to anyone, and as of today this machine will be in the garbage. Will not buy a Krups product again!

COFFEE IS HOT, TASTY & IN RECORD TIME
This coffee maker was on sale and also came with a mail in rebate, so the price was right. It quickly makes hot coffee, fastest maker I've ever owned. I've had it 2 weeks & the little plastic piece, on top right side, fell out. This piece allows the basket (holds coffee filter & coffee grinds) to swing out to fill with coffee, and swing back in, snapping it closed. The basket now takes effort to close & open & so far coffee grinds haven't spilled out.
Makes good tasting, hot coffee, quickly. Fastest coffee maker ever owned. BUT, the glass carafe is cheap & expect it to break with slightest tap on kitchen sink. I've bought enough coffee makers to know the sound of cheap glass. Do I recommend? Yes & No. Poor quality glass and closure piece-poorly designed.

Krups FME2 coffee maker
Bought this to replace one whose carafe had accidentally been broken. The carafe on the new coffee maker is of very poor quality. One of the hinges on the lid snapped off after less than a month and the entire handle separated into two pieces after less than six months. Always liked this model but the quality has really deteriorated. Will never buy a Krups product again.
