buy the more basic version instead
I should have bought the very basic, and very inexpensive sushi kit instead. All you need is the bamboo mat and all the other materials are pretty much useless. I splurged for this set because of the knife--my knife set is dull and cheap--and it was not worth it. Turns out my cheap, old Ikea knife was sharper and worked better and the smell of the wooden case is a little too strong for my studio apartment.
