Very happy with product
We live in the Northeastern US and purchased this for ourselves (adults) for use in our bedroom to combat symptoms from our forced air heat in the colder months (stuffy nose, sore throat, etc.).
We have used it throughout 2 autumn & winter seasons and are very satisfied with it. The mist output is highly visible (you can definitely see it working), and there are many adjustment settings on the knob so you can turn the humidity up or down to suit your own needs. And you can definitely feel the difference when you use it in a room that needs more humidity. It runs very quietly, except for an occasional gurgle. We have never experienced the "white dust" output problems many folks mention in reviews of humidifiers, but I believe that is an indication of mineral content in your water supply; you can remedy this by using bottled or distilled water instead of tap water. And if you desire or require a demineralization cartridge for your unit, please know that Crane makes several different ones and you need to buy the right one for your penguin because the others aren't designed to fit.
You do have to follow the cleaning instructions about once per week but they are really pretty easy to do and will keep your penguin clean & happy.
I recommend this unit, and have bought one for our newborn great niece's bedroom.

ridiculous design error
Think these are cute products, bought the duck and penguin, one each for our kid's rooms. While they work fine to spray the mist, the "optional demineralization filter cartridge" doesn't fit in either of these models. In the duck, the handle is in the way and the hole may be too shallow. In the penguin, the diameter of the hole is too small. I don't know if the filter will fit in any of the other models, but my suggestion is don't waste your money unless you weren't going to buy the filter anyway.
