Home Breadmaker Supreme
I am surprised at the quality issue with my unit. I own a Zojirushi table top grill and two table top skillet pans to prepare sukiyaki; they have performed well for over six years of regular use. This bread maker which I use with my own recipes as a babysitter for minding the dough during the kneading and rising stages has had intermittent problems with the paddles not spinning. I do not know if it is belt slippage or something else. Anyway, I unplug the unit, remove the pan, and jiggle slightly the drive gears in both directions and that fixed it for the last two loaves. Then the scary thing happened. The unit emitted smoke from the under carriage and I unplugged it right away. Now I await the Zojirushi response line. It scares me to think I may have considered using it for next morning fresh baked bread because I don't care to be the morning toast.

A replacement for the last one
that lasted 14 years!!!!!!!!! I am looking forward to a long life for this one too! I love it and I'm so glad to be baking again. Ours died at Thanksgiving, and I missed it so much until we replaced it as a family Christmas gift.

Fresh Whole Wheat Bread--Just add vital gluten
We love homemade bread. We do NOT love kneading and paying attention to rising and baking times/temps. **Enter the Zojirushi/best engagement present EVER**
This is our first bread machine, and we've made at least 10 loaves in the past few weeks, all in the machine-mostly following the recipes in the manual. All but one have used whole wheat flour and regular yeast. After the first loaf (using a non-Zo recipe), they've all turned out quite nicely. The manual is easy to follow - but ONLY after watching the included DVD. The DVD makes it clear that the sugar/butter/salt/dry milk etc go on the SIDES, while the yeast goes in the middle, not touching anything until the kneading process begins. *We wait until the bread pan is in before putting in the yeast -- so that it doesn't get knocked out of its special flour "well."*
Some additional recipes are available on the Zojirushi website, and some have them offered in g (by weight), but I haven't noticed too much of a difference between when I measured by weight vs. using the sprinkle/level off method of measuring flour.
The loaves tend to be just a tad lopsided, but it's so much easier to leave them in the machine rather than using the oven/loaf pan approach, and we aren't trying to win any "Beautifully Symmetrical Loaf" awards. We figure, why add steps to a beautiful process of pushing a couple buttons and having yummy bread in 3:40?
We find that we use the 1.5lb 100% Whole Wheat recipe most often for just two people. It stays fresh for 4-5 days, and we usually have some Whole Wheat Apple bread available too.
We love it. Hope you do too!

Awesome
Great bread machine. Just what I wanted. It's pricey, but I deem worth it even though I don't use it that often. I especially use it to make dough, rather than loaves of bread. I have made pizza dough, rolls, bread sticks, etc. awesome.
