More expensive, but a better product.
I recently bought a new expensive mattress, so I purchased the Allergy Luxe mattress protector first. One review out of the few complained of a seam that was not stitched properly. Crazy to find out I had the same problem. I went to exchange it for a replacement, but decided to spend a few more dollars for the Clean Rest Orkin encasement. The material is more breathable, seems to be more durable, and has elastic bands for a better fit yet its still a little big for my 14" high mattress. Better larger than too small. Remember its an encasement, so if you have bed bugs its meant to not be washed for a long time to starve them, or prevent them from making your mattress their home. Believe it or not it has instructions which Im sure have a purpose. I have yet to wash it, but remember to read the care instructions. If i have a problem with the material sticking together after following Clean Rest's instructions, then I'll file a complaint and ask for a replacement.

Does an OK job
We have had to put these mattress covers on 4 beds in our house. They seems to keep the bed bugs from escaping the mattress and box springs but they don't fit the mattress snugly so pockets form around the corners. We have found new bed bugs and their droppings in those corners. We also tried to wash the covers to remove any possible eggs and the covers are destroyed. The bottom side is a plasticy mesh that glues itself together in the dryer and tears easily when pulled apart so it will fit the mattress. And.... very costly - a draw back. But with few alternatives, we are replacing them but will no longer wash them.

Bed bugs live in zippers
This is for my son in San Diego. The bed bug infestation is not responding to weekly exterminator visits, partyly because they lay eggs and live in the zipper of the cover I bought. He may have to move and throw away the bed and box springs I bought him three months ago.
