Don't buy this!
I LOVED this ironing board.....until the rust started leaking onto the floor. It is made so that steam from powerful irons can penetrate the board instead of coming back up into the worker's face. This works well, but the moisture rusts the framework, and it after that happens, you might as well throw the thing out. It did't even last a year. NOT WORTH IT AT ANY PRICE.

Rusty and Rickety
I have never reviewed a ironing board, but this one merits it. I have been carting around a $15-$20 ironing board from state to state for 20 years. Well it finally needed to be replaced. I went to the store to pick up a new one and I could not believe the prices. I refuse to pay premium prices for a "ironing board", I mean really! So I purchased the Real Simple one, I get their magazines and they seem like a reasonable company. Well let me tell you about this ironing board bearing there name... I had this ironing board for about 5 months, while ironing some clothing for our son, rust began to run down the sides of the ironing board onto my beautiful area rug. Oh I was extremely upset! I couldn't believe it! I told my husband and grappled with myself about returning it. After all it was a ironing board, is that appropriate? Well, the longer I looked at it leaning against the wall, useless, the more angry I got. I decided to return it. Thank goodness I purchased it from BBB, because they took it back with my receipt. I exchanged it for a different brand. Thank you BBB! Buyers beware, this ironing board is rusty and rickety! Real simple should remove their name from this sorry ironing board.

Sturdy, but iron rest is poorly designed.
My wife brought home this ironing board from Bed Bath & Beyond. She likes it, but the iron rest at the back of the board renders the whole back of the iron board useless for ironing. The iron rest makes it impossible to drape over my shirts for a quick iron - making ironing take about twice as long as it should since you have to use the thin part of the board. Serves me right for breaking the old ironing board.
My wife said that the pad that came with it was cheap, and we just used the pad from our old ironing board. The board is fairly sturdy.
