I like this product
I like this product for it ease and portability It cleans both rugs and tile and with nothing to plug or unplug it is easy to move from room to room. I would like alittle more battery power however.

How does this have so many great reviews??
Bought this based on all the positive reviews and am completely puzzled. We have a relatively small apartment with hardwood, tile and carpet floors. I loved the idea of a cordless vac that was lightweight and worked on all floor surfaces. Unfortunately, while the *idea* is great, the actual execution was severely lacking.
The unit was easy to assemble and incredibly lightweight, but as soon as I pushed it onto my carpet, the vac "bogged down" into the plush with a sound like it had sucked up a sock and would absolutely not budge. It's important to note that our carpet is brand new. It's plush and thick, but not even remotely as shaggy as some older carpets. This vac seemed to have so much suction that it sucked down into the carpet and would not move without using both arms and considerable force to push.
I returned the unit to BB&B (who were absolutely lovely to work with) and exchanged it for a pricey Dyson at the recommendation of a store rep. Slightly sick about spending so much, but excited to be able to vacuum, I went home to find...THE SAME THING. The Dyson bogged down in exactly the same way. Ugh. Extremely frustrated, I returned the Dyson (again, BB&B was lovely about it) and trekked to an Oreck store, armed with a video of the Dyson bogging down.
The Oreck rep, without hesitation, said that I needed a different kind of vac for my plush carpet. He recommended a very lightweight unit (Magnesium) and assured me I could return it if necessary, but he was certain I wouldn't. The Oreck worked like a dream. I've never loved a vacuum so much.
I don't usually take the time to type reviews, but was so very frustrated by the hassles I experienced, I thought I'd try to help others looking for honest reviews. I truly think the only kind of carpet that this Shark and the Dyson will work well on are very low/loose plush or a berber or commercial grade carpet. If you have carpet that's remotely plush or thick, I'd skip right to the Oreck that's lightweight, has a super long cord and works like a dream.

Great Vacuum for Small Apartments
This vacuum works better than the Eureka vacuum I had before it. And it being cordless means I don't have to stop and change plugs to vacuum my apartment. It has plenty of battery charge to vacuum my 2 bedroom apartment, both carpet and linoleum. The dust cup is a little small, and with a 2 year old, a black dog and a black cat and beige carpets, I get a lot of hair, dirt and who knows on my carpets. This vacuum picks up it all, though I do have to empty the dust cup a couple times before I'm done. The vacuum sets right on top of the charging base, and stops charging itself when it's fully charged, so it doesn't kill the battery.
