INTERESTING ADDITION TO THE TABLE!
These square bowls are really different and interesting. I have found many uses for them, from soup to salad to candy, cut up fruit, rice and vegetables...I could go on and on! I have a lot of Italian Countryside and lately have been trying to acquire pieces that aren't "round". Not that I don't like the round, just looking for something different to add to my collection. These fit that bill and they are functional, too. Very sturdy. One con: They don't fit in the dishwasher very well. Other than that, I am happy with them.

An awkward size but I love the shape.
The only thing I can think of to use these bowls for are serving dishes. I bought a set but they are just sitting in my cabinet. Like all the currently produced IC items (outside of the sets), the quality is poor. The pieces are roughly glazed with wide unglazed center rims on the bottom and feel almost hollow compared to the bowls that came with my set. They do match but, like all current additions I've bought in the past 6 months, are of a far lesser quality in materials and workmanship. With the wide, unglazed rim on the bottom, I'm afraid not to wash and dry them immediately for fear water will soak in and cause glazing. I love the shape but not the quality.

They were not what I expected. I thought they would be smaller to use as cereal or fruit bowls.

Chunkier than they look in the photo
Agree! Am really surprised by the sturdiness and heft. These are thick like bakeware but are safe for the microwave,not oven. My first reaction was "Cool individual souffle dish." I'm sure I will come up with other uses. Big enough for a hearty bowl of chili or stew or large portion of veggies. Different. Like the design but wish it was a bit more refined.
