Saves my hand
I recently strained my hand opening a glass juice bottle. In desperation I began looking for a way to open very tight jars. The Oxo Good Grips Jar Opener is fantastic for opening the juice bottles at our house with minimal effort. I haven't tried it for other types of jars but for the narrow lids I'm using it on, it's great!

Okay
This product works, but not as well as I had hoped. It doesn't grip a large top easily and I have to use quite a bit of downward pressure over the lid area, so the handle is of no use.

poor new design
This new design does not grab bottle caps like the old one with the ratchets on BOTH sides did. I will continute to look for the older style which worked better for me

best jar lid openere available
I used this opener after trying many available types. It is far easier to use then the squeeze and pray type. No moving parts to break and can withstand enormous amounts of pressure and abuse. I am purchasing additional openers for my daughters.
