great gift to give
This is the first mandoline that I haven't broken. I know it is a bit expensive but I cook everyday and feel it was a good investment. Now I purchase it as gifts to others because I know it will last..

Horrible!!
This Product is way too over priced for what it is and it broke on me 3 time around.
I do not recomend this product go with something cheaper that can actually work.

Best Purchase Best Investment
I love my mandolin. The fact that it is stainless steel is a real investment because it will last for a long time. Its very solid, doesn't wiggle when slicing. The blades are so sharp you really don't feel anything when slicing onions tomatoes they all come out very neatly sliced. you really get your money's worth with this purchase.

Almost perfect
I cook almost all of my vegetables from fresh because I have to watch my sodium, so I plan on trying to wear this thing out. That plus the fact that I wanted to be able to cut 3/8" french fries automatically put me into the high end of the market for mandolins. Considering the difference in price between this model and the others that met the thickness requirement, I went for the more ridged & durable frame.
The first thing I tried on it was a fresh, dense russet for scalloped potatoes. When II made the first cut, I had to look under the mandolin to make sure it had sliced because I felt no resistance as it passed over the blade; now that's sharp! Since then I have been just as please with everything I've tried. I have yet to try a tomato or a bell pepper, but with a veggie lasagna on the menu for week after next I'll be doing both. Clean up is also quick & simple.
The one thing it lacks is a cutter that would let me do the kind of thick waffle fries they sell at the fast food places. That's a very small complaint against such a time saving device.
