JUNK - DO NOT PURCHASE
Went through 2 different units and both failed for different reasons. Either I've randomly experienced 2 lemons from what is otherwise a high quality product, or I have only experienced but a few of the many points of failure that one can experience. Judging from the odds and other reviews, it's likely the later and not the former.
My first unit lasted about 3 months before it was useless - would only vacuum a small area and stop. Perhaps it was the firmware update that promised to address some flaws that fried the robot. However, in my intense desire to love the Neato, I had compensated for its shortcomings from day one, as it was unable to perform without sognificant human intervention. I neato-proofed rooms: placed magnetic boarders where it got stuck, shifted furniture where space was too tight, tucked fringe on an area rug under the rug to eliminate neato being tangled again, and raised select furniture on blocks so neato could go under rather than get stuck wedging itself under.
Neato replaced my first unit and sent me a second which seemed to work well enough - that is if you're OK repositioning your furniture to vacuum - until it didn't. I started to experience RPS errors in which I would need to remain on standby to press the start button to complete a cycle. RPS errors then led to "unable to navigate something is blocking my path " errors - neato happened to be in the middle of a room free and clear of all obstructions in these instances. Facing these errors, I came up with a new approach to vacuuming as a Neato owner, I pulled out my central vac and vacuumed myself.
As Neato measures warranty period from original purchase not from receipt of warrantied replacement, so... I now own a $400 peice of junk. Neato's quality control and customer service are abject failures. DO NOT BUY!

Was VERY disappointed in this product!
This vacuum was constantly getting stuck under our couches. I had to move the base to another room because when it started up it headed directly to the couches every time and would get stuck. I finally turned off the program and just used it when I was home so I could pull it out from under the couches. Also, my biggest complaint would be that the battery would not last more than 15 to 20 minutes. I returned it back to the store.

Great! (Most of the time.)
On the days he does a complete cycle through the house it's wonderful, a very complete job. I still need to go around the baseboards and corners with a regular vac but that doesn't have to happen often.
My house is single story all tile but I do have a few small scatter rugs. Occasionally he will get stuck on a rug, but more often not. He also seems to be challenged by the dining room table and chairs occasionally, other days he just sails through.
My two cats have seemed to adjust to him but still keep him in view.
I have him set to clean three hours before I usually get home from work, but if he gets stuck I'll have to move & recharge him when I get home so he can finish up.

Neato
This vacuum does a great job cleaning, however, it has a basic problem returning to the base for re-charging. It has about a 30% success rate. If you want it to finish the whole house you really need to be home to place on the charger unit. The other problem I noted was updating. When I went to the website, it states that you can only update with a windows based system. Are you kidding? This has become an Apple world. Please fix this issue!
We use ours daily since we have dogs, and other than the above complaint, we love it. It is a real time saver. We only need to vacuum manually about once every 3 weeks!
