great company
we purchased this can almost 5 years ago. Kid abuse ie. opening with stuff on the can etc. caused wear and tear on the lid where it connected. We emailed the company to buy another lid and they sent us a replacement free of cost! Not even shipping...wow what a great company with amazing customer service! When these kids move out I will buy one of their higher end cans! Simple Human gets kudos for customer service!

Loved this trash can
I did not have problems with this trash can and used it for almost a year and a half before I moved out of my roommate's place. I loved this trash can and am buying one for my new place.
We had two dogs that loved trash and neither of them could get into it. The lid and pedal worked just fine while we had it. No complaints at all. Bags fit nicely.

Did not like this simplehuman slim trash can
We found this kitchen trash can to be poorly made as far as the step on mechanism. The lid does not open all the way when you step on the lever. When you step all the way down on it , the lid stays open . Also found the can to walk /move on tile floor because of the large wheels on the back of the can. So I am constantly placing it away from the wall so lid can open . The lid finally fell off and won't stay on when can is opened. I am returning it.

Does not keep pets out
We purchased this on Saturday because it had a lid that locked. It's Thursday and our 25lb blind dog has managed to open it three times. Each time we made sure it was securely locked, even knocking it over to check, and tried different locations. So we either have a genius dog or this item is not worth half the cost--that is if you want a locked trash can.
