works well ...
only issue is the chrome finish on the top is hard to keep fingerprint and clean. would have liked either dark or stainless finish like the side.
also the 2 small stickers on the front of the toaster that are there for advertisement on the new toaster left a slight shadow (residue?) on the front. they easily pealed off but left a shadow on the finish that I had to use a light cleaner (goo-gone for plastic) ... tried a light cleaner (endust for electronics) which can even clean monitor screens but that did not work nor a soapy sponge.
** note to the reviewer with issues of toasting only one side *** make sure you are not using the BAGEL setting. it only runs the INSIDE elements to keep the bottom of the bagel from getting toasted.

4-slot Fab Toaster
I couldn't be more pleased. This works exactly as advertised. Looks good and does a great job .. what more can you ask? I have probably owned a half-dozen toasters over the years and this is my favorite. I expect it to last for years. You won't be disappointed.

Lousy Sticker
Toaster is great, but seems that Calphalon could afford to put a easy-peal decal on the stainless that doesn't create 30 minutes to remove. Pretty disappointed.

Good but could be beter
This is a good looking toaster that complements my SS kitchen. It toasts evenly and performs well, however, its not perfect. I like deeply browned toast, not burnt but brown. This does the job, but I'm tapped out on the dial at the full dark setting. Since this is essentially just a timer, the full dark setting should run about a minute longer than it does. This goes for english muffins as well, which take a little longer than sliced bread. Barely acceptable browness with one cycle. So a little dissappointing there. Maybe using that Defrost cycle first, (although the muffins are at room temp), will help add some time to get proper browning. But this all could have been avoided by having the timer run about a minute longer on the full dark setting. Sometimes I wonder if the folks that design these things have actually ever used them in a real kitchen situation.
Also, I wish the slots were a little bit longer to accomodate, say deli-bought sliced italian or other denser artisan breads, which make delicious toast, but will not fit in these slots lengthwise. The slots will just barely accomodate the 24 oz. Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse or Arnold loaf slices, with me having to gently push the slices down into the slots, so the slices do fit, they're just a little snug.
All in all, a good toaster. I just wish the designers would have put in a little more thought as to functionality in a real world application.
