Works great, outside of shower.
Not sure why you would even want to put a big ribbed wood rack in the shower... If you're looking for shower grip I'd think something low-profile, synthetic, and attached with adhesive would be the way to go.
But, if you're looking to get rid of a carpeted shower matt this is 5 star all the way. Think about it for a second... a big piece of carpet next to a bath/shower. How does that make any sense. I don't care how quickly polyester carpet dries, it's not fast enough allowing all sorts of mold bacteria, fungi, and yeast to grow. And it collects dust and urine spatter. Yeah, no thanks I'll pass on the luxurious shower carpet... And how exactly do you wash a shower rug. Talk about imbalanced load if you try to wash that skanky, shower mop.
Do yourself a favor forget carpet in the bathroom. It make no sense on any level, especially the one that wraps around your toilet! Gross...
If you are looking to submerge an elevated piece of wood in your shower and expect it to benefit you somehow than I don't know what to tell you because I certainly don't get it.
If your looking for something to stand on with grip getting out of the shower, that isn't ice cold, dries, quickly, won't slip, or become a petri dish, and looks aesthetic, then this is your matt.

Don't even tink about it!
I was remodeling my bathroom, therefore I wanted something spa like decor. This teak mat is beautiful that's all. It does not do the work, whether you have a shower or a tub it does not work." IT SLIPS" don't even think about putting this mat in a tub unless you want to break your neck. I honestly think this product should be discontinue. Unfortunately I didn't return mine, and trust me I regret it every time I see the mat.

Teak Shower Mat
I love the wood, I love the feel, but it slips in the shower when you step on it with the first foot that touches it.
Not recommended. May take mine back or give it to a friend with an outdoor shower...does not go well on tile which is why I got it in the first place...slippery tile.

Don't waste your money
This mat looks great when you first buy it, but the quality is terrible. It started to peel after only two weeks. I took it back to BB&B and they gave a replacement. The second one didn't even make it through the first week before the surface began to peel. There are only of us and it had VERY light use. It sits outside the shower, not inside. So, all we did was step on it on the way in and out of the shower.
