durability
It beautiful to look at but it's durability is the problem. I had this mat for less than one year and hardly anyone steps on it and it has broken in 3 pieces. (I used it for show). If it was really stepped on and used they way it's meant to be used, I can see that it would have easily been worn off to it's black surface. Just like the previous reviewer stated because I can alreay see the black surface coming through. It's shame beacause it is beautiful to look at but not very useful.

My Favorite Doormat of All Time
I had a doormat exactly like this one for two years & loved it. I painted my front porch & wanted a new mat. I looked in all the stores in town & saw nothing I even barely liked. I wasn't going to be satisfied unless I had this particular mat. The Bed & Bath store didn't have it in town, but I was so happy to find it online! Yes it does fade a little & some of the color comes off, but that's after many many months of extreme weather conditions. Over 100 degree heat with blazing sun. Blizzards. It held up better than any other mat I've had. It looks soooooo pretty on my freshly painted blue porch. It takes a long time to even get close to wearing out, but when it does I want another one just like it.

Attractive & Durable
Used at front door stoop along with matching stair tread. Both are attractive and heavy enough to stay in place even when wet, and dark enough to not show dirt. (Would have rated 5 stars if mat had been about 6" wider.)
