Riedel O 21 1/8-Ounce Cabernet/Merlot (Set of 8)
An innovative new design in wine vessels from Maximillian Riedel, an 11th generation member of the famed Riedel crystal wine glass making family. Strikingly different because of the absence of a stem, these wine glasses look more like elegant tumblers. They are shaped to look as good as they feel in your hand, yet maintain all of the functionality of design you would expect from traditional Riedel stemware. These wine glasses are exceptional for casual, everyday use. Dishwasher safe.

Too Fragile Even For Special Occasions
My husband & I like their stemless design so we bought the 8 pack thinking it was a great buy for $74.00. Before use he opted to wash by hand in the sink ... the first glass barely tapped the sink and broke to pieces. We can just imagine how poorly they'd hold up when toasting with a full glass of red wine! I do not recommend these at all.

Gorgeous
We got these as a wedding gift and they are gorgeous. We have had SO many compliments from friends on them. As other reviewers noted, they are delicate and breakable but that's to be expected for any wine glass isn't it? My fiance broke one (he simply dropped it...nothing the glass could do about that...) but we just went and bought a two pack and replaced the one broken in the set and now have another backup.
We hand wash ours to prevent etching the glass in the dishwasher but I think that also will prevent breakage.

Beautiful but breakable
I received two sets of these glasses at my bridal shower 3 months ago. Since, I have broken two: one slipped out of my hand back into the dishwasher and the other was knocked on the cabinet door when I was unloading the dishwasher. They are very beautiful and do come out of the dishwasher just fine, but they are very light and fragile. My husband is scared he'll break it just by setting it back down on the table after a sip. It's ashame, I'm definitely going to have to find other wine glasses.

A great purchase
I love these wine glasses! The care instructions say they are dishwasher safe, but I always handwash them to be on the safe side. They do not spot or discolor. I dropped one one time in the sink, and it didn't break! What a relief considering I have broken my fair share of expensive wine glasses. Definitely a good buy.

Maximilian Riedel: Riedel "O". A glass line made by Riedel, introduced in 2004 without a stem. A glass you can stack. Two glasses at the same height as one glass. A glass that can fit into the dishwasher. Dishwasher proof, not a problem. A glass that acts like a Weeble Wobble. If you have kids at home, a glass that bounces back, not to lose a sip of wine. Is it the glass for a dinner party? Yes, it is. But if you want to have a nicely decorated dinner party, then "O" is not there to replace your stemmed glass. "O" truly is the casual way of drinking wine. |
