Strainer/Colander:

Progressive Berry Keeper - Red

Keep berries fresh longer with this clever and convenient berry keep that doubles as a colander. This berry keeper lets you wash and store all in one as it preserves delicate berries and other small fruits. A water reservoir in the base provides moisture and the stackable tray insert layers berries to prevent bruises. An adjustable vent regulates air circulation and moisture to keep berries fresh. There's even a handy printed produce guide on the container for easy reference. Measures 7" L x 3 1/2" W" and holds two 1 pint containers or 1 quart berries. Dishwasher safe with a removable berry colored base and lid.

Okay I'm a bit on the fence on this one. I have the lettuce keeper and I love it, so of course I wanted the berry keeper too. I got it for a wedding gift, and while I like it, I have a couple of gripes. The first, and most annoying thing, is that I cannot get the vent to stay where I put it. I'm not sure if it's just a design flaw or the keeper I received; if I can find the gift receipt, I may just exchange it and see if another one works better. The other thing is that this thing is very small. I know it doesn't need to be as large as the lettuce keeper, but it barely was able to handle a smaller Costco (yes, small and Costco are perhaps the problem--but it would've been two containers at a regular store--not an unheard of amount to buy) container of raspberries. It did seem to help--raspberries stayed fresh with only a few berries going sad in 4 days after washing (I'd purchased about 6 days before total). In my experience, in the container they come in they can mold even faster than that, so it does seem to help. I'm not sure, however, if it's the best keeper or not. I do like that it comes with a separator, but I can't see what you'd use it for--there would be room for only a few berries in each area. November 17, 2012
Mold Factory I had such high hopes for the berry keepers, unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I followed the instructions as to how to use them and it seems like it made my fruit mold at a faster rate than if they were just in the store container. We actually got 3 of them and now I want to throw them away because they are useless. February 15, 2012
Berry Keeper - Love It Tired of buying berries just to have them get moldy in your refrigerator? This berry keeper really works. I have 2 and use them for any kind of berries, carrots, etc. Just make sure to read instructions on what produce needs the vents open and which closed. January 16, 2012
Great to have around! This container really does keep strawberries fresher than any others. However, it does not hold a whole package of them. June 6, 2011
